The Wimbledon 2023 final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz is one of the most acclaimed that ignites great conversations amongst tennis fans. Both of these players displayed a jaw-dropping level of tennis brilliance, athleticism, and mental prowess.
Countless questions, comments, opinions, and appraisals have come flooding, and former world number 5, Jimmy Arias has added his questionable opinions to this.
Jimmy Arias is a retired tennis professional who is currently working as a commentator. While not having a noticeable track record as a tennis professional, he has been spawning his opinions as a tennis “pundit” that has been received with a lot of mockery and hate.
Jimmy Arias hails Carlos Alcaraz peak
Carlos Alcaraz has swiftly risen to be a player that the world of tennis has not seen in a long time. At just 20 years of age, he has gained the physical and mental capabilities to overcome numerous hurdles in the world of tennis. He has won 12 ATP titles and 2 major titles in his 5 years in the professional tennis circuit.
His monstrous athleticism and charming demeanor have been deservingly appreciated and praised by fellow tennis professionals and fans across the globe. However, Jimmy Arias’ comment on the young Spaniard might have crossed the limit just a little bit for tennis fans.
He said, “He [Carlos Alcaraz] at his best level, is better than anyone else. He is better than Djokovic. Djokovic can’t get to the level Alcaraz is at… This is the best level I have seen. Him at his best. ”
“He has sort of taken the Big Three and combined all of their strengths and put them into himself.”
These comments overtly expressed how Jimmy thought Carlitos was just better than Djokovic and also seemed as though he put Alcaraz over the Big Three. Tennis fans were not too accepting of this and quickly came to respond in support of the Djoker.
Use of Djokovic’s name in Alcaraz assessment draws ire of tennis fans
A few fans addressed how Carlos Alcaraz isn’t nearly close to his peak as the world number 1 is just 20 years old. Numerous fans focus on how unfair the comparisons between Novak Djokovic, the Big 3, and Carlos Alcaraz were.
One fan wrote: “It became clear a long time ago that you don’t want to promote Novak. But it’s just amazing how much you use his name to promote others and put him down.. According to his logic, Alcaraz is better than Fedal – but we only compare them in a positive context. Hypocrites “.
It became clear a long time ago that you don't want to promote Novak.
But it's just amazing how much you use his name to promote others and put him down..
According to his logic, Alcaraz is better than Fedal – but we only compare them in a positive context. 🥰

Another fan wrote: ‘When Djokovic wins slams, experts like this one suddenly start talking about anything but tennis, the favorite topic is “he is not likeable” and all this would somehow humiliate Djokovic. When Alcaraz won the slam, you suddenly remembered about tennis’, shedding light on the double standards.
Other fans point out Novak Djokovic’s shipload of records and achievements throughout his career and how after two decades, he still stands strong and dominates the field.
If Alkaraz can do what Djokovic did in 2015 (all 4 slam finals and winning 3 of them + 8 masters finals with 6 titles and winning WTFs while Nadal, Federer and Murray playing great) I would say that Alkaraz is a better player than Djokovic. Let’s not talk about 2011 season.
