Months after Manchester United exit, David De Gea shows new colours with social media activity

David De Gea’s goalkeeping may have slowed down in his last few years at Manchester United, but he deserved a better ending than what he got. Admittedly, he was responsible for conceding costly goals under Erik ten Hag last season. Nevertheless, he won the award for the best goalkeeper in the Premier League with the most clean sheets.

His exit shocked the club’s fans, who have grown to love him for his incredible reflexes in front of goal. The Spaniard is currently without a club, but he teased off some new colours with his social media activity as he posted a short video on his Instagram story.

David De Gea shows off new colours

David De Gea may be without club fitness, but he showed off his company’s new colours on his Instagram story. The former Manchester United goalkeeper owns an esports team called Rebel Gaming. He remains the president of the company and occasionally posts about the esports team on his social media accounts, including Instagram.

Rebel Gaming’s first headquarters opened in Madrid last year, with a state-of-the-art gaming facility to compete, train, and chill. On what inspired him to open the company, De Gea said, “A year and a half ago, I was talking with Jose, one of the guys I trust and work with. He knows I am in love with video games, so we were talking about making our own club,” he told Manchester United’s editorial team.

“So that’s how it started. We started step by step, we made Rebels, so we are really proud. I am trying to show them (his team) that this is my experience in football. There are some words there, we put them there to show to the players – be calm, take things calmly,” he continued.

“Of course, the pressure is always there. It doesn’t matter if it’s a video game or football – if you’re competing, the pressure is always there. So, you have to deal with the pressure and always be strong in the mind,” David De Gea concluded.

De Gea spotted in Manchester

David De Gea continues to hold Manchester United in high regard despite his unceremonious exit from the club in July. The former Atletico Madrid stopper was pictured at the Leigh Sports Village in Manchester a few weeks ago to show his support to the women’s team, who played their first women’s UCL game against PSG.

In the midst of Andre Onana’s poor start to his Manchester United career, fans have called for United to re-sign David De Gea to reclaim his place as the club’s goalkeeper. Andre Onana was signed from Inter Milan in a $56 million deal in July. However, the Cameroonian has endured a tough start at Old Trafford, conceding goals and making high-profile errors at the back.

United return to action this weekend as they take a trip to Sheffield United after a two-week international break. Ten Hag’s men will hope to get back to winning ways and build on the 2-1 victory over Brentford, thanks to Scot McTominay’s heroics.

Will David De Gea return to Manchester United in the future? Make sure to tell us in the comments.
