Months after showing off immaculate hole-in-one shot, golf aficionado Stephen Curry joins forces with teammates Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala in latest endeavor

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry showcased his golfing prowess with an impressive hole-in-one shot a few months ago. The NBA star is now investing in a new golf league founded by professional golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

Billionaire investor Marc Lasry is closely collaborating with Curry to lead a group of investors in purchasing the fifth team in this new golf league. He has also piqued the interest of his teammate Klay Thompson and former teammate Andre Iguodala to join the venture and invest in the yet-to-be-named team, which will represent San Francisco.

Curry, Thompson, Iguodala join forces for TGL

TGL Golf is an indoor league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory Mcilroy, which has attracted high interest from some of San Francisco’s biggest sports stars to be among the owners. According to an official announcement by TGL on X recently, the Splash brothers and Andre Iguodala were welcomed to the league, after joining forces with Marc Lasry, Avenue Capital Group Chair and CEO, who is about to purchase the San Francisco TGL team.

The statement read ” Welcome to the league! Our fifth team ownership group, led by Marc Lasry’s Avenue Sports Fund and @StephenCurry30, will represent San Francisco. @NBA stars @andre Iguodala and @KlayThompson are also part of the ownership group.”

Lasry, who recently launched the Avenue Sports Fund as part of Avenue Capital Group, which manages approximately $12.5 billion in assets, has openly expressed his excitement about working with Stephen Curry on this project. He predicts that the league will become the most-watched on television after its launch.

This team represents the fifth of six teams that have yet to be revealed as part of the startup indoor golf league, which is scheduled to kick off on January 9, 2024, in Palm Beach, Florida. As the league continues to attract top investors, team names, brands, front-office staff, and players, the last ownership group will be announced later in the year.

The Splash brothers and former teammate Andre Iguodala are part of a $37 million investment in the Esports team. According to a post on Instagram by BoardRoom with the caption “Steph Curry, Klay Thomson, Andre Iguodala buy into TGL San Francisco team.”

To mention a few other investors, which include Steve Simon, the son of Indiana Pacers Owner Herb, former NFL player Steve Young, and Twitch chief strategy officer Collin Carrier, the league has appeared to be a major investment for investors.
