Anthony Nelson prefers team’s quiet atmosphere without Tom Brady
After Joining the Bucs, Brady pushed the franchise to the limelight overnight. The Tampa Bay team had been one of the hottest teams in the NFL for the past three seasons as the NFL GOAT had been there. However, now with the veteran’s retirement, there has been less buzz about the Bucs and their LB Anthony Nelson said he prefers this state more while giving a radio interview this week.
“I kind of like that. It was amazing playing with Tom but with that comes a bunch of buzz. I think just being under the radar is going to be good for us.”
Except for decreasing the media buzz, Nelson found no change in the team’s inside environment after the California Cool’s retirement.
“Inside the building, it feels the same [without Brady], a lot of guys like ready to go to work. We still got the same culture. [Todd] Bowles has made sure of that and he’s done a really good job of that so far. It’s been mostly outside the building that’s been the difference.”
When did Tom Brady retire from the Buccaneers?
Brady announced his second-time retirement in February this year, just one year after his first-time announcement in 2022. The veteran star disclosed his decision via a few-second video message and marked this retirement ‘for good’.
“I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning, I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first.”
The 46-year-old star’s first-time retirement only lasted for 40 days. He made a U-turn and played another season in Tampa Bay. Tom Terrific conveyed many emotional words during the first-time decision. Hence, he decided to keep the last one short and finished the video with a thank-you gesture for all the people who supported him vehemently for two decades.
“Won’t be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay and I used mine up last year. So, really, thank you guys so much, to every single one of you for supporting me. My family, my friends, teammates, my competitors, I could go on forever, there’s too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn’t change a thing. Love you all.”
Brady‘s record of earning seven Super Bowl titles and playing 23 seasons is nearly impossible to break. Besides his on-field performance, the former NFL star’s commitment to his teams and his immense support towards his fellow teammates are quite rare in the landscape of the NFL.
