The Big Three trio – Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic did not just majestically battle and rule the tennis empire for over 2 decades, but also spark some of the most intense conversations amongst the community. With the never-ending GOAT debate and comparison of the unfathomable career record of these monumental figures of tennis, the conversations and fights will continue for a long time.
After his heart-wrenching retirement in 2022, the Swiss Maestro Roger Federer’s cameos on the tennis court have always left fans smiling. This time, he answers one of the most thought-off questions.
Roger Federer reveals his toughest opponent
Federer was recently questioned about who challenged him the most, Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal. Roger was quick to admit that it was Spain’s Raging Bull, Rafa, that had him struggling. He explained, “I struggled against Rafa the most. Yeah, just because of his topspin and lefty, you know.”
While Nole leads the H2H wins against Roger at 27- 23, Rafa leads their H2H at 24-16!
Federer also expressed his love and passion for the game and elaborated:
“It’s a great sport. You get great camaraderie. We see them smiling a lot. Yes, I also thought about hanging up the racket at certain moments in my career because losing is really frustrating, but then, you know you have your support team, you have your coach, maybe you have your parents, a friend, they can all pick you up, you know, and they can keep you going. And you’re getting to know incredible people along the way, which for me, has been an incredible thing in my life.”
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have been known for their immense contributions to the world of tennis and continue to be the greatest duos of all time. Their friendship and rivalry are extremely admirable and pure!
Has Nadal won more Grand Slams than Federer?
Not only is Rafa ahead in the H2H stats but also has a couple more major titles than Federer. Since Roger’s retirement, Rafael has won two Grand Slam titles and is not ready to back down soon. Roger Federer claimed 20 Grand Slams in his career and just a couple of years after this, Rafa edged him out.
At the age of 37, Rafael Nadal is currently recovering from his surgery and is ready to prepare to get back on court. Coming from a generation that does not give up, it looks like the Spaniard is nowhere close to giving up.
