Liverpool legend predicts Manchester City likely to play in ‘National League’ if PL thoroughly investigates the 115 charges amid Everton’s 12-point deduction

Manchester City may have been one of Europe’s best clubs for the past half a decade, but Pep Guardiola’s side have a problem looming ahead. The Cityzens have done exceptionally well in the Premier League and took things to the next level last season when they completed their first-ever treble, including the UEFA Champions League.

Sadly, their recent success could be overshadowed by the possibility of a Premier League ban, no thanks to the many allegations and charges of Financial Fair Play against them. Amid Everton’s 12-point deduction, Jamie Carragher has claimed Man City could end up in the National League.

Football authorities have developed strict punishments for those who break the Financial Fair Play rules. These rules have been implemented to curb the spending of clubs, limiting how much money investors can pump into the club for transfers to give lower-level teams a chance to compete.

Manchester City were slapped with 115 charges by the Premier League earlier this year, that prompted to Guardiola threatening to leave the club if they were to be found guilty. Although investigations have not been concluded yet, Manchester City could suffer a number of punishments, ranging from point deduction to expulsion from the Premier League.

According to Jamie Carragher, the Premier League’s potential decision to slam Everton with a 12-point deduction could mean more trouble for Manchester City as they face the possibility of a demotion from the Premier League.

“The PL want a 12-point deduction for Everton for one charge. Manchester City are going to end up in the National League North if the PL get their way. Unbelievable the number of stories that come out about Everton’s situation, but Manchester City’s, which has 114 more charges and has gone on for much longer, has gone very quiet,” the Liverpool legend tweeted.

Manchester City may be in for a long season. The Premier League champions lost Kevin De Bruyne to injury at the beginning of the season and could lose their star man to Al-Nassr as the club is preparing a shocking move for the Belgian playmaker.

Everton reportedly receive a 12-point reduction for breaching FFP

Everton have been battling relegation for the past three seasons, and the club could be playing in the Championship next season if the Premier League’s recommendation of a 12-point deduction is approved.

According to Sky Sports, Everton face a potential 12-point reduction for breaching sustainability and profit rules, which could mar the club’s campaign and send them straight down to the Championship at the end of the season.

Sean Dyche’s men have only accrued seven points from nine games so far this season, three points above the relegation zone. With 12 points being deducted from their points, the Toffees would drop to the bottom of the table with a negative hanging over them. That would put them four points behind Sheffield United, who only have one point from nine games so far this season.

Everton are in the middle of a takeover process, with Farhad Moshiri announcing some weeks ago that he has sold his controlling stake to 777 Partners.

Will this 12-point deduction ruin Everton’s season?
