Everton have been battling relegation for the past three seasons, and the club could be playing in the Championship next season if the Premier League’s recommendation of a 12-point deduction is approved.
According to Sky Sports, Everton face a potential 12-point reduction for breaching sustainability and profit rules, which could mar the club’s campaign and send them straight down to the Championship at the end of the season.
Sean Dyche’s men have only accrued seven points from nine games so far this season, three points above the relegation zone. With 12 points being deducted from their points, the Toffees would drop to the bottom of the table with a negative hanging over them. That would put them four points behind Sheffield United, who only have one point from nine games so far this season.
Everton are in the middle of a takeover process, with Farhad Moshiri announcing some weeks ago that he has sold his controlling stake to 777 Partners.
