Months after blockbuster Jets move, $75 million QB Aaron Rodgers opens up on caring relationships with Packers’ core

The Green Bay Packers is the team under which wings Aaron Rodgers spent his 18 years in the NFL clinching one Super Bowl trophy while grasping MVP awards two times.

The ending of his timing with the Packers was drama-filled where the two parties met a disheartening end because of miscommunication with the front office. Whatever, still Aron possesses a great devotion to his former team that he thinks will capture in his mind forever.

Rodgers maintains strong bonds with Packers players post-exit

Rodgers had a record-breaking 15 seasons as a starter before signing with the New York Jets. But after so many years, he realized that he and his old team were not sailing in the same direction, which gave him the idea to sign up with the Jets. A-rod made his formal debut in the Big Apple later in April through a blockbuster trade.

The four-time MVP still has a lot of love for the Packers, despite the unexpected ending with them, as he revealed in his most recent interview with Kay Adams. He disclosed that he kept in touch with his Packers teammate because he spoke with Jordan Love, Matt LeFleur, Rasul Douglas, and Preston Smith prior to training camp.

“Oh … definitely,” he said. “I talked to Jordan [Love] on the eve of training camp. Talk to Matt [LeFleur]. Still talk to a lot of people over there. I talked to Rasul [Douglas] recently. I’m always in touch with Preston [Smith] and love those guys, man. There’s so many guys I really care about over there.”

The 39-year-old shared that like him his former teammate also possesses a deep connection and affection towards him as many of them also hit him up as the most senior players on the team. He concluded by saying with his ex-mates he would write an “epilogue at some point”.

“A lot of people hit me up because I’m older are the workers, you know so talking to so many people who’ve been there forever,” he said. “And I love that place. You know that chapter is closed for now. We’ll write the epilogue at some point. But yeah, a lot of love and gratitude for them.”

How much did Aaron Rodgers get to go to the Jets?

Rodgers agreed to a modified two-year deal with the Jets on July 17 that included a $75 million salary guarantee. His four-year contract with the Packers, which he willingly lowered over the following two seasons, includes $35 million less in the new contract.

Even so, he did not complete his whole contract with the Packers, which included guarantees worth close to $110 million.

“The team gave up significant pieces for it to be just a one-year deal,” he said before the deal. “I’m aware of that. … Anything could happen with my body or the success we have this year, but I’m having a blast, so I really don’t see this as a one-year-and-done thing.”

The Jets have been without a postseason appearance for 12 years, and Rodgers has spoken highly of them while turning the Packers’ season around. It would be interesting to learn how he could keep up this level of energy.
