Following a phenomenal victory in the last season, the Kansas City Chiefs squad looks ready to steal yet another Super Bowl title in the upcoming season. Keeping sky-high expectations at heart, the franchise attended its first training camp last Friday.
The Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross was called back to the physicality of football by the team’s defensive leader Justin Reid after missing last year’s training camp, preseason as well as regular season due to the corrective foot surgery. Upon his arrival on the field, the youngster has already received heavy praise from Reid and Kansas City star Patrick Mahomes.
Justyn Ross earns high praise from Chiefs QB
After playing as a college football player with the Clemson Tigers in 2021, Ross could not participate in such sessions due to his poor physical state. However, after getting sidelined for a year, the WR finally got to showcase his potential athleticism to his fellow teammates.
According to Charles Goldman of AtoZ Sports, Mahomes was head over heels seeing the improvement of the footballer and raved about him following training camp performance, “He [Justyn Ross] has had a good one [training camp] – learning the offense fast – you can tell he has been in the offense for a year now.”

The two-time MVP is reportedly aiming to steal the retired NFL star Tom Brady‘s feat of achieving seven Super Bowl titles. To break this phenomenal record, he would probably want to be surrounded by a veteran corps and the Chiefs signal-caller thinks he can rely on the Clemson star in the offense,
“Obviously [he is] making big plays. He is getting more involved in those first-team reps. [He is] a guy that I hope can be a really good player in this offense.”
How much is Justyn’s Chiefs’ contract?
Ross and Kansas City agreed on a three-year rookie free agent contract, worth up to $2.5 million with the potential of $705,000 slated to come in 2022, per analyst Jordan Schultz. He wasn’t selected in the 2022 NFL Draft as no franchise took a chance on him in the seven-round draft.
Due to a physically difficult 2021 season in Clemson after being plagued by a foot injury, the 23-year-old was benched for the final three games of the Tigers. He initially broke out in 2018 after recording 46 catches for 1,000 yards and continued such numbers in the next season as well before things started falling apart for the potential top draft pick.
As the Chiefs are eyeing back-to-back Lombardi trophies, it remains to be seen if Justyn can earn the trust of the team’s front office and bounce back on the field, resetting his last few year’s struggles.
