Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are often considered kings of breaking and setting records in soccer. The players’ achievements in La Liga are a sight to behold, with Ronaldo and Messi holding the records for the most goals scored for Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively. The long-time rivals haven’t stopped chasing and breaking records, with Ronaldo recently breaking the record for the most headed goals in football, surpassing Gerd Muller.
Messi also recently broke a Guinness World Record, becoming the first player to have 41 Guinness World Records to his name, one more than Cristiano Ronaldo’s 40. Messi is currently the football player with the most Guinness World Records title, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo (40), Robert Lewandowski (9), Kylian Mbappe (5), and Neymar (4).

This puts him at the summit of global soccer again, with his fanbase celebrating this admirable achievement over Cristiano Ronaldo. CR7 likely won’t stop trying to break records either so this discussion is probably far from over.
Looking at Guinness World Records that Lionel Messi holds
Man of the hour, Lionel Messi, has put himself in the global spotlight again after jumping a spot ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo in the history books. Some of Messi’s Guinness World Records include the ones he achieved during the last World Cup in Qatar. The Argentine became the player with the most World Cup matches after playing in 26 World Cup games.
He also became the player with the most Man of the Match awards at the FIFA World Cup, winning 11 times. Messi became the first player to assist at five different World Cups, in the same campaign Ronaldo became the first player to score at five different World Cups.
Apart from his World Cup exploits, Messi holds for the most goals scored in a La Liga career, with 474 goals in 520 appearances, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo, who has a better goal ratio.
