Roger Federer offers his candid thoughts on Wimbledon 2023 experience sitting next to Princess Catherine

The Maestro of tennis, Roger Federer is absolutely adored by everyone. During the course of twenty-four years in the realm of professional tennis, the FedEx has won 20 Grand Slams and 103 ATP titles. Even after his heart-wrenching farewell match at the Laver Cup 2022, he actively continues to inspire the next generation of tennis.

A couple of the prestigious Wimbledon 2023’s matches were graced with the presence of the King of Grass, Roger Federer, and the Princess of Wales, Catherine Middleton. Weeks after this, Roger shares his experience while spending time with the royal highness.

Roger Federer provides his personal views about Wimbledon 2023 experience

Roger Federer was deemed the King of Grass for his remarkable performance in the elite SW19 grass courts. This year, he was back in the SW19 stadium amongst the royal spectators. He was seated beside the royal princess Kate Middleton who is a huge tennis fan herself and has been following the tennis happenings from a very young age.  Several years back, the princess even admitted that her mother had a crush on Roger!

The princess and Roger were found to be laughing and enjoying the Wimbledon matches. The Swiss legend shared what he thought of this experience, he said: “It was so fun sitting next to Princess Catherine. I know her quite well. She is an avid tennis fan, and she plays herself.”

“Sometimes we have to be careful we don’t speak too much. You can talk, and then it’s super-quiet, and then you have to applaud”, Federer added.

Before this, a video of this duo sharing the tennis court and learning more about the Wimbledon ball boys and girls went viral. This royal duo clearly share a great friendship and tennis fans absolutely love this crossover.

Roger Federer reveals his toughest opponent

The former world number 1 is currently touring on his ‘Around the World with Roger Federer’ global event series to inspire the next generation of tennis. During the launch of this event series, Roger coached young kids in New York. One of these kids asked Roger, “Who was the person you struggled against the most?”

Without much thought, he responded, “I struggled against Rafa [el Nadal] the most“. He further explains to the kids that this was because of his topspin and the fact that Nadal is a left-handed player.

The Fedal rivalry slash friendship is adored by the entire tennis community. For the King of Grass to admit that Rafael Nadal was his toughest opponent showed how much he respected the Spaniard. This duo contributed so much to the world of tennis in the past couple of decades. Therefore, their legacy will be revered by the following generations of tennis as well.
