The Philadelphia Eagles made a significant move in 2022 when they acquired veteran star A.J. Brown from the Tennessee Titans during the NFL Draft. This decision has proven to be a game-changer for the franchise, resulting in significant benefits.
Alongside Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts’ innovative “tush push” strategy, Brown’s exceptional catches have been pivotal in the team’s consecutive victories. In the competitive NFL landscape, where even elite teams like the Kansas City Chiefs can lose to underdogs like the Denver Broncos, the Philadelphia squad shines with only one loss, largely thanks to Brown’s record-breaking performances.
What NFL record did A.J. Brown set during Eagles vs Commanders?
In Philadelphia’s Week 8 victory against the Washington Commanders, Brown made a significant impact by registering eight catches for 130 yards and scoring two touchdowns. This outstanding performance earned him the distinction of becoming the first receiver in NFL history to achieve over 125 receiving yards in six consecutive games. Previously, former wide receivers Calvin Johnson (2012) and Pat Studstill (1966) had jointly held the record with five consecutive games of at least 125 receiving yards.
While talking about the historic achievement, the receiver chose to remain humble. The veteran said he doesn’t get distracted by the pressure of making records, instead, his goal is to continue his performance in every game and prove his caliber on the field.
“You got to be humble in this game, you got to come out and prove it each and every week, and that’s what I’m trying to do. I’m trying to come in and work and try to be better each and every day, so yeah,” he said via CBS News.
Earlier in the Eagles’ 14-point victory against the Miami Dolphins, the WR moonlighted as a hero by throwing for 279 yards and combining for three scores. With that week 7’s phenomenal performance, he became only the third player to record 125+ receiving yards in five straight games.
A.J. Brown NFL career achievements
Brown headed to his NFL career after being chosen by the Titans as the 51st overall pick in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Since then, he has amassed several NFL titles and accolades, including a second-team All-Pro selection in 2022, two Pro Bowl appearances in 2020 and 2022, recognition on the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2019, as well as the Conerly Trophy in 2017. Additionally, he earned first-team All-SEC honors in 2017 and 2018.
The 26-year-old had been plagued by injuries during his tenure in Tennessee, albeit his performance never saw a diminishing mark. In the Philly squad, he is just outshining himself every single day.
In the 2022 NFL season, the receiver enjoyed his prime by recording 88 catches along with 1,496 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. The way Brown is proceeding this season, he is very likely to break his own record soon. He amassed a total of 939 yards over eight games and is only behind Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill, who recorded 1,000 yards receiving recently.
