Alongside Harry Kane, who has now departed the Premier League for Bayern Munich, Mohamed Salah has been the most consistent performer in the EPL since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017. The Egyptian has broken records left and right, helping Liverpool reach the pinnacle of European football by winning the UCL in 2019.
Salah’s consistency drew a huge bid from Saudi Arabia in the last transfer window, with Liverpool rejecting it without thinking twice. However, the Reds have conceded they could lose their star man next summer if Al-Ittihad were to return with a bid similar to the one they made in August.
Salah’s Liverpool departure is anticipated next year
Saudi Arabia is the new destination for players who wish to secure the last huge paychecks of their careers. The country has been able to sign some of the big names of European football, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr, Karim Benzema, Riyad Mahrez, N’golo Kante, and Sadio Mane, among many others.
Karim Benzema’s Al-Ittihad wanted to add Mohamed Salah to their books in the last transfer window, lodging a huge bid for the Egpytian, only to be turned down by Liverpool. However, according to new reports, Salah’s departure from the club is increasingly looking inevitable next year.
After securing the rights to host the 2034 World Cup, Saudi Arabia is not slowing down in its attempts to build one of the most reputable and competitive leagues in the world by recruiting the best players. According to Football Insider via a post on Apex Football, officials from the country are working very hard to bring Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne to the country next year.
Salah’s failed move to the Middle East now looks like it could go through next year. The move could also see Cristiano Ronaldo link up with Kevin De Bruyne at Al-Nassr.
Liverpool turned down lucrative bid for Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah has been one of Liverpool’s most prolific forwards, scoring 196 goals in 318 games for the club since joining from Roma in 2017. This has made him perhaps the most important player in Liverpool today after the club already parted ways with the two other players he formed a good partnership with on the field, Sadio Mane and Bobby Firmino.
Liverpool were tempted by a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ittihad in the last transfer window but held on tightly to Mohamed Salah. Jurgen Klopp turned down an initial $189 million offer from the Saudi club before rejecting another staggering $252 million offer for the Egyptian.
This proved to be a great move by Liverpool as Salah has scored 10 goals in 13 games for the Reds in all competitions this season. He also recently broke a 17-year-old record set by Thierry Henry in Europe as the Reds thrashed Toulouse 5-1 in the Europa League fixture last week.
Can Liverpool hold on to Salah until at least the end of his contract in 2025?
