Jordan Love thrives in Packers NFL training camp, filling void left by QB Aaron Rodgers

After spending 18 years with the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers did not leave a bit of opportunity to amuse the Packers which led him to win one Super Bowl under their wings. Yet, something wasn’t going well from both sides as Rodgers became indifferent towards his once beloved team and the Packers got inclined to Jordan Love.

Following the departure of Rodgers, the Packers rejuvenated their squad by keeping Love at the helm. Jordan now appears to be enjoying the team environment at the Don Hutson Center while showcasing his prowess to his teammates and the team’s front office which earned him a lot of appreciation.

Jordan Love excels at NFL training camp

Love spent all his three seasons with the team as Aaron’s backup. He played no significant part in his debut season, but in the next two, he sat behind Rodgers to potentially try and attain his QB power. He now holds the starting position as a full-timer as of this season, which has increased his accountability to the squad.

Jordan apparently looked significantly better than he had since his rookie year as a result of his growing workload. The front office also observed how his consistency, confidence, and passing abilities have improved significantly from before.

Love showcased a glimpse of what to expect from the Packers’ offense through their first 2-minute practice of camp while going 3 for 3 with his passes on Saturday during Family Night practice at Lambeau Field. After the camp, the quarterback’s coach LaFeur reaffirmed his trust and confidence in him while warmly applauding him for his resilience.

“We’ve known that about Jordan just in terms of the resiliency and the poise he possesses. That’s one of those characteristics that you can’t coach, and he definitely possesses. That tends to be life for a young quarterback, it’s going to be a roller coaster and there’s going to be some really good moments, and there’s going to be some moments that he’ll want to have back,” said the coach.

Prior to the camp, the coach expressed his excitement to see quarterback Loves’ performance, and following it, he appeared to have gained considerable confidence in his ability to perform in his new capacity as the starting quarterback.

Jordan Love ready to lead Packers after Aaron Rodgers’ departure

This offseason the 39-year-old Rodgers started a new voyage for the New York Jets following a lengthy period of miscommunication with the team’s front office. This didn’t seem to come as a surprise for the Packers as after his departure, the team subsequently moved the spotlight on Love.

Jordan Love's college career, revisited: How QB went from two-star recruit to Packers first-round pick | Sporting News

In his 10 games over the last two years, the 2020 NFL Draft’s 26th overall pick was unable to demonstrate much athletic ability. In six games in 2021, the 24-year-old quarterback completed 36 of 62 throws for 411 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. He recorded 14 of 21 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions last season.

The Packers’ optimism and reliance on an inexperienced quarterback have already drawn criticism from a number of quarters. It will be interesting to see if the player can legitimately live up to the team’s confidence in him.
