Patrick Mahomes triumphs on NFL top 100 list again amid Chiefs’ preseason preparation

The Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes possesses all the qualities to become the next GOAT of the NFL following Tom Brady’s retirement. After snatching two Super Bowl titles and owning two MVP titles in the last five years, Mahomes secured the No. 1 spot in the Top 100 rankings of the NFL, joining Brady as the only player to top the list more than once.

Besides him, the Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce secured No. 5, and defensive tackle Chris Jones secured No. 10 in the prestigious list. All of these three veterans had played a key role in Kansas City’s victory last season, albeit quarterbacks have been at the top of the rankings in seven of the last eight years.

Mahomes secures top spot on Top 100 list for second time

Mahomes topped the NFL’s top 100 list once again by beating the Minnesota Vikings Justin Jefferson, Philadelphia Eagles Jalen Hurts, San Francisco 49ers Nick Bosa and his own teammate Kelce rounded out the top five. The 27-year-old made his first appearance on the list in 2019 at No. 4 and remained there in the next year as well before reaching No. 1 in 2021. However, he fell to No. 8 in 2022 before having a blast this year.

The Chiefs congratulated their veteran signal-caller with a post saying, “The best of the best. For the second time, @PatrickMahomes is voted no. 1 on the #NFLTop100 list. Congrats, QB1.”

Pat moonlighted as Kansas City’s savior last season by leading the NFL with 5,250 passing yards along with 41 touchdown passes against only 12 interceptions to lead the franchise to a 14-3 mark. Hence, the dual threat deserves the title in all possible ways.

Chiefs’ set to begin preseason play against Saints

Ahead of Sunday’s preseason matchup against the New Orleans Saints, the Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and a few players including Trent McDuffie, Isiah Pacheco, and Tommy Townsend opened up to the media on Monday.

As the franchise uses the third week of training camp as an opportunity to finalize their lineups, Reid has nothing but praise for the young talents on the roster.

“The weather helps [the] learning as you go. The guys can focus a little bit more on that. I think they’ve done a good job with retention after a day off, so they have been good. You know, they’re in their books, looking at things. We’re not just calling one install, we’re using all the installs, and they seem to be able to hang with that.”

Kansas City’s corner McDuffie said he thinks the squad is going to do even better than last year’s Lombardi trophy-winning squad. The Chiefs starters might not witness any cut from the 53-man roster over this weekend. Meanwhile, the backups will have to prove themselves in this period to make their name listed in the final roster.
