The name of CM Punk has been on everyone’s lips for the past few weeks, even at WWE’s Crown Jewel a few days ago, where chants for the former AEW superstar echoed throughout the arena. According to latest rumors in the world of professional wrestling, The Second City Saint might show up at Survivor Series this month.
Following his firing from AEW, CM Punk has been speculated by fans to be heading back to WWE. However, this rumor was put to rest couple of weeks ago when it was reported that WWE had apparently denied Punk’s offer to return.
Is CM Punk going to return to join forces with Cody Rhodes?
This week on Monday Night RAW, a WarGames match was announced for the Survivor Series in Chicago, between Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn and Jey Uso against The Judgement Day and JD McDonagh. Traditionally, a WarGames match is a 5-on-5 matchup. It has been reported that it would indeed be a 5 vs 5 match at Survivor Series this year.
For the Judgement Day’s side, Drew McIntyre could serve as a potential 5th member. The Scottish Warrior has been teased by Rhea Ripley to be joining their group for quite some time now. As for the babyface’s side, it’s possible that CM Punk could make a surprise return at the event and join forces with Rhodes, Rollins, Zayn and Uso.
Cody Rhodes could be the perfect choice to introduce Punk to their team, since both superstars had been a part of AEW in the past. It would indeed be a legendary moment at Survivor Series if CM Punk does end up returning, since the event is taking place in his hometown, Chicago. Although it seems like a stretch at the moment, fans have been holding on to hopes of seeing The Second City Saint have one last stint in the Stamford-based promotion.
CM Punk speaks on possible WWE Survivor Series return
Amidst the ongoing rumors surrounding his potential return to WWE, CM Punk has finally broken his silence on the matter. The Second City Saint recently appeared on 670 The Score, where he discussed the rumors of him appearing at Survivor Series. According to Punk, he was not involved in any talks regarding his return and was attending to more important matters at his home.
“They’re asking if I’m going to be there? I think it’s sold out. I think tickets are hard to get”, said CM Punk. “I don’t want to burst anybody’s bubble. I’m kind of just sitting at home and enjoying this beautiful Chicago weather. I have an injury in the family. My dog [Larry] blew his dog ACL. I’m literally just spending my time with him. I know that sounds crazy, but he is my son, and I take care of him and treat him as such.”
Although it seems unlikely that Punk will show up at Survivor Series this year, fans would have to wait and see if The Second City Saint holds true to his word. Stay tuned for further updates on CM Punk and WWE.
