The NBA has been blessed with many great talents since its inception and Nick Young is one of them. Nick has played several stints with elite franchises in the league including the LA Lakers which allowed him to share the locker room with some of the game’s finest players.
Since he quit the NBA to play for Macau Black Bears in Asia, he has been living a quiet life enjoying his career in the East. However, Nick seems to be looking for a return to the NBA with his recent online involvement.
Nick Young requests fans advice to revive his career
Nick Young, a former NBA champion, played his last NBA season in 2018-19. Nevertheless, his basketball journey isn’t finished. At 38 years old, he’s currently considering his next professional step, which might be overseas. On Tuesday, the former teammate of Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry used social media to ask for fans’ opinions.
Young posted a poll on X, formerly known as Twitter, inquiring if he should try to continue his career in a foreign league like China or Taiwan or retire from basketball for good.
“I need y’all help should I get in shape for one last push to play in China or Taiwan or some where Oversea or call it quits”, he wrote.
Nick Young’s plea has gathered some reactions from fans. Though some fans appeared to pity his present condition. “You make getting buckets look easy. Give it another shot”, one replied.
“I say play. Don’t give up the game you love until you can’t play anymore. That being said, if you having to come to Twitter to ask us, it seems like you don’t really want to play anymore tbh”, another commented.
At the same time, some rude fans didn’t care about his plea, “Get your ass into shape whether you playing or not bruh you got a kid looking up to you”
Another fan called it a strategy, “Strategy, RPG, MMO and endless action — see what Hero Wars has to offer”
However, several factors might hinder his NBA return such as his stats. Nick played an average of 22.8 minutes per game, with 11.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in almost thirteen seasons in the NBA. The last factor is the age factor, at 38, only a few players can still do what LeBron James is currently doing in the league. So, considering these, Nick Young seems to have no chance of making an NBA return.
Nick Young’s championship-winning season with Stephen Curry
The former Lakers star turned down the opportunity to earn more money by playing for the Lakers to playing for the Warriors as he wanted to take the court alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green allowing himself to at least end his NBA career with a championship. His little effort contributed to the Warriors winning the NBA championship in 2018.
While playing more from the bench, Nick Young managed to play for 17.4 minutes across 80 games, with an average of 7.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.5, including appearing in 20 playoff games, in which he scored 52 points through 205 total minutes of play.
Fortunately, he won the Championship with the Golden State Warriors and went on to play in one more season in the NBA for the Denver Nuggets before jetting to the East.
