The Milwaukee Bucks who played host to Detroit Piston are the third-seeded team in the Eastern Conference after their first six games. Giannis Antetokounmpo has remained their best performer so far this season alongside his partner Damian Lillard. The game against the Pistons gave the Bucks another chance to better their stats.
While Giannis was looking sharp on the night and the Bucks were leading, the unforeseen occurred which surprised everyone, given the Greek Freak is a technically sound player and is not often ejected.
Giannis gets ejected during Bucks vs Pistons game
On Wednesday evening, the Milwaukee Bucks hosted the Detroit Pistons in Wisconsin, and Giannis Antetokounmpo got ejected from the game during the third quarter after receiving his second technical foul of the match.
The incident happened immediately after Giannis Antetokounmpo dunked over Detroit Piston’s Isaiah Stewart and briefly stared him down, leading the referees to blow the whistle on the Bucks star. Since Antetokounmpo had already earned a technical foul in the second quarter, he was removed from the game.
However, the Bucks forward questioned the referees’ decision and tried to discuss it with them after the whistle. When that approach didn’t work, Antetokounmpo expressed his disagreement by sitting on the bench and crossing his legs. He gestured to the nearest referee to proceed with the game.
Despite his efforts to remain on the court, Giannis Antetokounmpo was eventually sent back to the locker room. His 22 minutes of play had seen him score fifteen points, nine defensive rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. At the time of his ejection, Milwaukee held a 13-point lead but ended up trailing as they entered the fourth quarter but won the contest 120-118, thanks to blockbuster signee Damian Lillard who scored 34 points.
NBA fans react to Giannis’ ejection
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s ejection during the matchup between his Bucks and Pistons was the highlight of the Wednesday showdown. The incident that occurred in the third quarter of the game got Giannis surprised after he completed a dunk. The referee made the foul call and got Giannis ejected from the game.
A fan posted “Dogshit ejection”, mocking the referee’s call.
Another posted “Soft ass league”.
However, despite the way fans might argue about the referees’ foul call on Giannis, the fact is, he was ejected from the game. After facing the Pistons, the Bucks are set to play their next game against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday evening in Indianapolis which will give Giannis a chance to make it to the court after the ejection.
