UFC CEO Dana White, in a recent interview, shed light on the highly anticipated UFC 300 event where he addressed rumors about former MMA superstars Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey’s coming back to MMA from professional wrestling.
While the matchups at UFC 297, 298, and 299 have already stirred excitement due to the presence of many superstars headlining, the anticipation for UFC 300 in April is still mounting. As excitement builds for this landmark event, fan theories speculate the return of the sports top earners.
Dana White shatters expectations for UFC 300
Dana White clarified the rumors about big names like Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey. This is particularly due to the UFC and WWE now being under the TKO Holdings umbrella. Addressing these rumors, White clarified that neither Rousey nor Lesnar would be making it to UFC 300.
Brock Lesnar’s absence isn’t shocking, given that he is 46 and has WWE commitments. This is despite his appearances at UFC 100 and 200. Ronda Rousey hasn’t fought in the Octagon since late 2016 when she unsuccessfully challenged Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight title and then pivoted to professional wrestling and acting.
Where is UFC 300 going to take place?
UFC 300 is shaping up to be a landmark event for the promotion. Las Vegas, the de facto home for major events of the UFC, is expected to host the event at the T-Mobile Arena. UFC 100 and 200 were held at the T-Mobile Arena. It is expected that Las Vegas would be the ideal destination for the PPV event.
The T-Mobile Arena is in fact the frontrunner for hosting UFC 300. This is due to Las Vegas’s reputation as the epicenter of combat sports, notably boxing and MMA. In the US and other English-speaking countries, the event will undoubtedly be showcased as a PPV on ESPN Plus.
Speculation is rife about who will be headlining the coveted UFC 300. Conor McGregor is the front-runner to headline the event with his rival coach at TUF 31, Michael Chandler. McGregor’s return timeline aligns with the PPV.
Israel Adesanya, who is on a self-imposed hiatus, could also make his comeback at UFC 300. Sean O’Malley will be headlining UFC 299, ruling him out of UFC 300. With potential headliners like Conor and the venue’s storied past, UFC 300 is poised to make fighting history.
