The Autosport Awards 2023 will be taking place at its usual venue, the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane, on the 3rd of December this year, as the nominations for drivers are out. It is their 36th award ceremony, and voting for the drivers has already begun.
The winners for each category will undoubtedly be decided by user votes; however, to vote for your favorite driver, you must have a subscription to Autosport. It is solely up to the readers to decide their pick in every section, and their choices will reflect on the careers of these drivers. There are many categories and numerous drivers to choose from, and each one made an impact in their racing series through their performance and determination.
There are many categories to choose from in the Autosport Awards 2023, viz., International Racing Driver of the Year, British Competition Driver of the Year, UK National Driver of the Year, Rookie of the Year, International Competition Car of the Year, and Rally Driver of the Year. This is only the start, however, as there are many more awards to be distributed.
The Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award is one of the most coveted driver awards of the year for young achievers. The ceremony will also reward the Autosport Williams Engineer of the Future Award and the Autosport Gold Medal, incorporating the Gregor Grant Award for lifetime achievement. The John Bolster Trophy for technical achievement, the Pioneering and Innovation Award, and Promoter of the Year are among the other available trophies for drivers.
There is also a new award this year in the form of Sponsor of the Year, which will be decided by an internal panel of judges.
F1 drivers nominated for awards
The Autosport Awards 2023 is a big name in the sport, and it was a guaranteed fact that F1 drivers would be nominated for this grand event. Big names like Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were a given addition, along with some super rookies.
There are two nominations for International Racing Driver of the Year, i.e., Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso. Verstappen has shown an unbeatable amount of dominance in Red Bull, and Fernando has discarded the thoughts of getting old and lacking behind youngsters.
The British Competition Driver of the Year includes all three Britons currently racing in Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, and George Russell, with each of them equally performing in their own race machines.
The last additions to the list are in the category of Rookie of the Year, with Oscar Piastri and Logan Sargeant making it into the final nominated list.
