WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio joined the Legado Del Fantasma faction a few months ago, transforming it into the Latino World Order, also known as the LWO faction. This group has quickly become one of the best tag teams on the WWE roster, thanks to their collaboration and trust.
Fans appreciate the faction’s unwavering support for the Master of 619 and their commitment to fair competition. However, the whole WWE Universe was shocked on yesterday’s episode of SmackDown as Mysterio got betrayed by his stablemate.
Rey Mysterio gets betrayed by close friend on SmackDown
On the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Rey Mysterio was attacked by one of his LWO stablemates, none other than Santos Escobar. This incident unfolded after Carlito blamed Escobar for Mysterio’s loss against Logan Paul in the United States Championship title match at that event.
During the WWE Crown Jewel 2023 event, Santos Escobar stood by the Master of 619 in his match against The Maverick. While intending to assist his mentor, Escobar accidentally left the brass knuckles on the apron, allowing Paul to use them and secure the win.
On yesterday’s episode of SmackDown, Rey Mysterio called out Logan Paul in a promo, but he was interrupted by his stablemate Carlito. The rising Latin star accused Santos Escobar of intentionally helping Paul at Crown Jewel. This hurt Escober’s emotions, and the promo ended with him walking away from the ring.
Later in that show, Carlito fought against Bobby Lashley in a match and was defeated. After winning the match, Lashley and the Street Profits assaulted Carlito, while Santos Escober was just beside the ring but didn’t do any help. Then Rey Mysterio made an entry into the ring to save the LWO member.

The Master of 619 successfully fended off his enemies before questioning Escobar about his refusal to aid his teammate. However, Escober provided no clear answers, escalating the situation. Tensions rose as Mysterio pushed him away. Rey then turned his attention to assisting Carlito, but Santos attacked him from behind.
In retaliation, Mysterio delivered several slaps, only for Santos Escobar to cunningly maneuver him into the ring post and execute a dropkick. This betrayal shook the arena, as no one was expecting Escober to turn heel and betray his mentor.

After enduring a brutal beating from his stablemate on the latest episode of SmackDown, Rey Mysterio found himself in a dire situation. His right leg was injured, and he visibly struggled with pain. Meanwhile, Santos Escobar exited the arena, leaving Mysterio behind.
The LWO faction entered to assist their leader, shocked to see him in such a sorry state and furious about Escobar’s betrayal. Despite their anger, they refrained from chasing Escobar. Instead, their focus shifted to helping Mysterio backstage for urgent treatment.

Most of the fans in the arena were sad, as Mysterio has again tasted betrayal from his close ones as he treated Escober like he treated his son Dominik Mysterio before their rivalry started.
