The Buffalo Bills, led by quarterback Josh Allen, have been able to smash big teams like the Miami Dolphins but they also went down to struggling teams like the New York Jets and New England Patriots. Though the team is sitting at the second spot in the AFC East, their 5-4 record doesn’t seem very promising in the competitive landscape of the NFL.
Despite being picked over the Cincinnati Bengals signal-caller Joe Burrow, the Bills QB Josh Allen fell short of expectations to continue a winning streak this season. Meanwhile, the team’s recent loss has also brought a fine for the QB due to his controversial on-field activity.
Josh Allen’s touchdown celebration led to controversial fine from NFL
According to the NFL notebook, “The use of baiting or taunting acts or words that engender ill will between teams” will be labeled as taunting.
During the Bills’ 24–18 loss to the Bengals, Allen was embroiled in controversy by pump-faking Cincy safety Nick Scott before pointing as well as mocking him on his three-yard scramble at Paycor Stadium. The league allows “no fun” on the field, and the QB was slapped with a $10,927 fine for his unsportsmanlike conduct in the contest.
The veteran picked up a 15-yard penalty on the play as well. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce defended him and labeled the decision as “one of the weakest taunting calls” he had ever seen. Besides him, the league issued a $5,746 fine to the Bengals guard Cordell Volson for unnecessary roughness due to a late hit on the Bills safety Micah Hyde.
Allen receives a clean bill of health for Broncos game
The Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott earlier announced that Josh was going to appear in the practice session, but it would only be a walk-through. The QB also mentioned he has a “little bit of pain” on his right shoulder due to the injury he sustained in Week 6. Though he did not participate in Buffalo’s first practice last week, he has been listed as a “full go” for his team’s upcoming clash against the Denver Broncos at the Bills Stadium, via SI.com.
The signal-caller had been a limited participant on Wednesday in Week 7 but full on the next two days. Ahead of the Bills’ match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he was listed as a full participant on all three injury reports. Though the veteran didn’t practice last Wednesday in preparation for the contest against the Cincinnati Bengals, he was full on Thursday and Friday.
The 27-year-old sustained the shoulder injury in the second quarter of the match against the New York Giants after the opponent’s defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence tackled him. Despite having shoulder pain, he was still able to play the entire game.
The “full go” players in the injury report are wide receiver Stefon Diggs (Back), defensive end Leonard Floyd (Illness), linebacker A.J. Klein (Back), safety Jordan Poyer (Shin), and linebacker Baylon Specter (Hamstring).
