Watch: Texans QB CJ Stroud celebrates in the locker room following huge upset win over Joe Burrow’s Bengals

After getting selected as the second overall pick by the Houston Texans in the 2023 NFL draft, CJ Stroud quickly earned the starting quarterback spot on the team. The aftermath of the decision has been nothing but the best move for the franchise as the rookie star is playing incredibly on the offensive side, garnering constant praise from legends like the NBA superstar LeBron James.

After going down to the below-average team, the Carolina Panthers, the Texans bounced back stronger and picked a win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the following match. They now stretched the winning streak by beating the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10, and the celebration following such a victory is mandatory for Stroud.

Texans QB CJ Stroud celebrates huge win against Bengals

The Bengals entered the Week 10 campaign with a four-game winning streak, and the Texans put an end to the streak by handing them a three-point loss. With just a few seconds remaining in the contest, Stroud threw for 356 yards to lead a drive over that eventually put placekicker Matt Ammendola in range for a game-changing 38-yard field goal.

With this win, the Texans are now sitting at the second spot in the AFC South with a 5-4 record. After beating Burrow’s squad and winning five of their last seven games, Stroud alongside the team’s other players couldn’t help celebrating the moment and they were snapped dancing in the locker room.

Stroud connected with tight end Dalton Schultz for 25 yards and wide receiver Noah Brown for 22 yards on the decisive drive and ended up going 23 for 39 passing. He also scored a 6-yard touchdown pass to Tank Dell, whom analyst Terry Bradshaw mistakenly addressed by a wrong name, for an interception.

Days ago, the rookie star broke the NFL GOAT Tom Brady’s record by attempting 186 passes without throwing an interception. Brady earlier had the feat of attempting 162 straight pass attempts (2016) without an interception.

CJ Stroud and Joe Burrow hug it out after the game

The Week 10 clash was also like a Burrow vs Stroud battle as they are two of five quarterbacks in the history of the NFL who passed for a minimum of 2,250 yards as rookies during their first eight starts in the league. The Texans star has the best interception percentage as a rookie, the Cincy QB is third in the category, and the contest was more like proving who holds more football prowess between these two.

However, the signal-caller duo wasn’t bothered about the equations and had a friendly hug following the game. Despite overshadowing Joe Cool, Stroud whispered to the Bengals star to reveal that he is a “big fan” of him and even asked to have their jersey swapped after a while.

Burrow and Stroud also have a connection as both of them went to college at Ohio State. The Bengals dual-threat has spent three years at Ohio State before getting transferred to LSU while the Texans QB was a two-year starter at the school.
