The Las Vegas Raiders parted ways with their quarterback, Derek Carr and signed Jimmy Garoppolo to have a promising season this year. But Garoppolo has become a victim of injuries and the team has gotten embroiled in an ugly losing streak.
Raiders owner Mark Davis didn’t shy away from firing the team’s head coach Josh McDaniels as well as general manager Dave Ziegler amid the regular season, despite going through a financial blow of $85 million. Davis assigned Josh’s role to linebacker coach Antonio Pierce, and under his leadership, the franchise picked up two wins, prompting players to have a celebration in the locker room.
Raiders’ locker room celebration goes viral
The locker room celebration following a win is like a compulsory thing to do for the players, and the Raiders athletes didn’t forget to follow the trend as they lost themselves in dancing following a last-moment victory over the Jets. They were even smoking cigars in the locker room in celebration of their second straight win.
Wide receiver Davante Adams, who had frequently showcased frustration regarding his diminishing role on the offense, was center stage in the room. He was pulling out dance moves and his fellow teammates circled around and joined him in the celebration, via Fox44 News.
The Raiders had the same kind of celebration following their Week 9 win against the New York Giants as well. They were seen puffing on cigars provided by defensive end Maxx Crosby, who filmed the whole joyful moment that saw them blast music.
Raiders secure back-to-back wins with triumph over Jets
Just days ago, the Raiders were 3-5 and lacked the potential to step up in the AFC West, but now they are in the second spot of the division, behind the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. After starting the 2023 season with a one-point win over the Denver Broncos, the team witnessed back-to-back defeats in the following weeks.
The Raiders, in the meantime, bounced back by defeating two below-average teams—the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots—before again losing track and going down in two consecutive games. However, they picked up a dominating 24-point victory over the New York Giants lately and stretched the winning streak by beating Gang Green. With the recent win against the Jets, the AFC team has a 5-5 record and is just two wins behind the Chiefs.
After parting ways with McDaniels after an overall record of 9-16, the Raiders seemingly found their lost piece of the puzzle in Pierce. If the interim coach can continue the winning streak in the upcoming tough battle against the Miami Dolphins and Chiefs, he will reportedly have a legitimate shot at keeping the head coaching job long-term with the Raiders.
