The Kansas City Chiefs, led by superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, started the season with a loss but once again came back to their champion form with consecutive victories in the following games. Though Russell Wilson and his Denver Broncos managed to give a blow to the Chiefs lately, they buckled up themselves in the next match by defeating the mighty Miami Dolphins.
The Chiefs hosted the last five AFC Championship games and won three of them. A general question arises, what would be the case if Mahomes and his squad witness the same decibels from other fan bases as well. The quarterback didn’t shy away from dropping the truth bomb ahead of their intense battle against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11.
Mahomes unearths NFL’s loudest road challenges
As the QBs are the most important players in the squad, they are often verbal on the field. During a recent appearance on Monday’s ManningCast, host Eli Manning asked Mahomes whether he goes verbal or silent on the field with the signals for his offensive line while playing on the road. The Chiefs star said he revealed he is always verbal besides matches against the Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks.
“I’m mostly verbal. The only time I’ve been silent is in Baltimore and in Seattle,” he said via CBS Sports.
Pat shared a reason behind that as well saying the stadiums in those locations were very loud, and the tackles couldn’t hear him. The vet said to deliver clear signals to his teammates, he needed to go silent.
“I have to go under center and go with signals with the offensive linemen. It was so loud in those stadiums that the tackles couldn’t hear me.”
The two-time MVP has a 1-2 record combined in his road games in Baltimore and Seattle. However, his individual performance has been incredible in those contests. In the Chiefs’ 35-36 loss to the Ravens in Baltimore in 2019, he completed 24 out of his 31 passing attempts for 343 yards along with three touchdowns.
In the team’s loss to the Seahawks in Seattle in 2018, the QB threw for 273 yards along with three scores and added 33 yards on the ground.
Chiefs gear up for showdown with Eagles
The Chiefs vs. Eagles clash is probably going to be the most high-voltage match in Week 11 as the battle is between two league leaders. The Chiefs will enter the campaign with one of the best defenses as their D-line didn’t give much chance to the opponents to score. The Chiefs’ line gave the second-fewest points per game while surrendering the fourth-fewest passing yards per game this season.
Their cornerback Trent McDuffie has earlier said that his squad was not happy to give up 35 points to Philly in their last face-off, and so, they are gearing up the D-line while their O-line along with Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce has been phenomenal as well.
Meanwhile, injuries to tight end Dallas Goedert as well as cornerback Bradley Roby might be a headache for the Eagles. However, the team might be rest assured of the offense thinking their “tush push” leader Jalen Hurts might have taken advantage of the bye week to heal any bumps and bruises.
Along with a formidable O-line, Philly has a record of having 7.7 yards per passing attempt. Their D-line, led by linebacker Haason Reddick and defensive end Josh Sweat is also ready to give a nightmare to Mahomes.
