Vikings’ Josh Dobbs listed on injury report after unveiling unique parallels between aerospace engineering and QB play

The Minnesota Vikings had to wait until Week 5 to embrace their first win of the season. As the team’s winning streak began to strike following the dismal start, their seasoned quarterback Kirk Cousins had to leave them in jeopardy for a season-ending injury, prompting them to shoulder Josh Dobbs the starter job.

While Dobbs’ arrival has been embellishing the Vikings’ winning streak, the Vikings fans’ Super Bowl dream suddenly has a shot after hearing the starter’s injury issue.

Josh Dobbs faces injury scare ahead of critical matchup with Broncos

In preparation for their Sunday night game against the Broncos, the Vikings skipped a real practice on Wednesday.On the day, the team revealed their injury report, marking it as the biggest injury report so far this season. 

Among a pool of troops, Josh Dobbs got an unpopular mention due to an ankle injury. Nevertheless, the thing that serves as a ray of hope for the fans is the starter’s full participation in practice during the whole week.

Apart from their newly recruited quarterback, the team was forced to add eleven more names to their latest injury list, including Brian Asamoah II, Jaren Hall, Nick Mullens, T.J. Hockenson, Justin Jefferson, Dean Lowry, K.J. Osborn, Chris Reed, Akayleb Evans, Alexander Mattison, and kicker Greg Joseph.

The former Arizona Cardinal backup starter joined the Vikings just ahead of the trade deadline on Oct. 31, per CBS News. Under his leadership, the Vikings won two games in a row. Though, according to Josh Dobbs, Kirk Cousins’ influence on the Vikings’ offense is significant,  he himself turned into a great asset for the team. He racked up 426 passing yards and three touchdowns while intercepting zero times during his two starts for the Vikings. 

Dobbs explores overlapping traits in engineering and quarterbacking

Before being a leader in the field, Josh Dobbs enjoyed a flourishing journey of graduation from the hallowed halls of the University of Tennessee with a degree in aerospace engineering back in 2017. In this regard, he got a nod from NASA, being able to kick off his Vikings journey on a high note.

The player, who sees the Vikings tenure as struggling for himself, also draws a parallel between an NFL quarterback and an aerospace engineer. The correlation is mainly related to the intensity of the crossover that Joshua uttered at the start of his take while speaking with reporters on Wednesday.

“Engineering and quarterback have a lot of crossover, just in the mental aspect,” he said.

The Vikings dual-threat quarterback detailed pointing out that two important parallels between the job of an aerospace engineer and a quarterback were logical thinking and the capacity to adapt to changes.

“When you’re an engineer in school, you show up day one as a freshman and they just throw a ton of problems at you. You have to critically think of how to solve those problems. Football is the same way… As a quarterback, you have to get your team in the right play. Critically think of ‘am I in the right play now?’ or ‘what play do I need to get to attack this defense?’ and repeat process.” 

As an aerospace engineer, Dobbs’ success is yet to be discovered, but as a starter for the Vikings, he has already stolen the show.
