Joe Burrow guided the Cincinnati Bengals to their first-ever back-to-back division titles during his stint with the team. He is often touted as the team’s sharpest starter owing to his contribution and perseverance in helping the squad rise up the AFC hierarchy.
Prior to the season, Joe suffered a calf injury leaving the starter position in jeopardy. In relation to the injury, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor stated that he would need a handful of days to recover.
Joe Burrow injury update
On July 27, while participating in an 11-on-11 practice during training camp, Burrow strained his calf. He was then attended to by the team’s medical staff inside the Paycor Stadium facilities before being carried off the field.
Following the incident, Taylor stated that Burrow will miss “several weeks” of action due to a calf injury for which he required an MRI to determine the severity.
“The timeline [of Burrow’s return] is several weeks from when I said several weeks,” updated the HC.
Neither the quarterback nor the team management specified the exact timetable of his return. But the team’s officials shared a cryptic message on the quarterbacks’ comeback.
Everyone, please stop calling and offering us your calf muscles… it doesn't work like that!
Joey will be back.

“Everyone, please stop calling and offering us your calf muscles… it doesn’t work like that! Joey will be back,” said the team’s official Twitter account.
In addition to being the first player in NFL history to achieve 75 Pass TDs & 10 Rush TDs through a player’s first 40 professional games, he breaks the NFL record for the most 400-yard passing games in a player’s first three seasons.
Bengals fixtures for the QB to miss
It is expected that Burrow won’t play in the Bengals’ opening preseason game. Nearly two weeks have gone since his injury, but there are still no concrete details suggesting the QB would attend the team’s opening preseason game.
Leading up to their game on Friday, the Bengals have already participated in a combined practice with the Green Bay Packers. The 26-year-old was absent as was to be expected. Additionally, according to Jeremy Rauch of FOX-19 TV in Cincinnati, the team’s wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase urged him to miss the first game of the season so that he could regain his full form before the regular season.
“I just want him to be 100% healthy to play. I don’t want him rushing nothing, I don’t want people in his ear telling him to play at a certain time. I just want him to be healthy,” Chase said.
Prior to the start of the regular season, Joe’s injury seems to have become a major issue for the Bengals considering how much they depend on him. However, the young star should get proper time to rest before stepping back into the field as a lack of appropriate recovery could result in fatal career-ending injuries.
