The Green Bay Packers, led by young quarterback Jordan Love, started the 2023 NFL season with a big 38-20 win over the Chicago Bears and continued their elite-level performance till Week 3. The team’s performance in the following games had been a series of disappointments as it lost back-to-back games.
With Love’s good performance lately, the Packers have started to showcase potential to bounce back stronger, albeit with a 3-6 record, and third spot in the NFC North, it seems quite tough. Meanwhile, the franchise’s offensive lineman David Bakhtiari, who is out of the season due to an injury, has delivered his straight answer on watching college.
Bakhtiari reveals disinterest in watching college football
Before starting his NFL journey, Bakhtiari played at Colorado from 2009-12 and even earned second-team All-Pac 12 accolades during his redshirt sophomore as well as junior seasons. As the Colorado Buffaloes, led by coach Deion Sanders, had a 2-0 start this season, the Packers star sported a Colorado baseball hat ahead of the team’s Week 1 game against the Chicago Bears.
However, the lineman now made it clear that he is not a follower of college football as he finds it difficult to enjoy.
“Ima keep it real with y’all…I am NOT a fan of watching college football. It’s tough to watch,” he wrote.
Despite having a promising start and being projected to be turned into a playoff team with Sanders, the Buffaloes are having a bouncy season. They were even smashed by the Washington State Cougars this past weekend with a 14-56 loss.
Meanwhile, Bakhtiari is set to miss the entire season due to a knee injury. The Colorado native didn’t participate in the Packers’ Week 2 and Week 3 games before getting listed on injured reserve. He later provided an update about his game status saying he would not return this season and his goal is to become healthy for the team’s training camp prior to the 2024 campaign.
Jordan Love displays development for Packers
The Packers showcased their unwavering support towards Jordan and even didn’t hesitate to part ways with four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers who now has a lucrative contract with the Jets, following an almost two-decade tenure. Though Jordan seemed lackluster at the first few games this season, his gradual improvement in completion percentage as well as passing yards has been quite promising.
In the Packers 20-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams, the signal-caller completed 76.9 percent of his passes, a career-high while going 12/13 for 160 yards along with one touchdown. He continued the performance in the next game against the Pittsburgh Steelers as well by recording a career-high 289 passing yards, albeit the Packers lost the match 19-23.
The young dual-threat averaged 8.77 yards per pass against the Rams and 7.23 against the Steelers, which are his second- and third-best games this season. Though the Packers star is back to the bottom spot in completion percentage, he ranks 6th in the league out of 34 QB with an 84.3 grade over the past two weeks, and also ranked 23rd in yards per attempt.
