The New England Patriots have an abrupt 2-8 record this season. Bill Belichick, who was once lauded as one of the best coaches in the NFL, is failing to guide the team, and his frustration with the recent failure has been prevalent as well. After beating the Buffalo Bills 29-25, the Pats now have three straight matches.
Though Belichick secured his 300 regular season win a few days ago, most of them came when he had Tom Brady as a quarterback. TB12 worked with the coach for almost two decades and didn’t shy away from backing him up amid the team’s recent downfall.
Tom Brady hails Bill Belichick
As the Patriots are going down only as the season proceeds, the rumor about sacking Belichick is getting stronger. Even the team’s owner, Robert Kraft, seemed to be unpromising to dismiss the veteran. During a recent interview with Steven A Smith, Brady shed light on the discussion.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion labeled Bill as the “best coach” and said he couldn’t think of the franchise without the vet.
“I think he’s an incredible coach. He’s the best coach, in my belief, in the history of the game. So, I mean, I don’t know, the thought of him not being in New England is hard for me to think about. So I, I think he’s— he prepares the team really well. And ultimately, you got to have a lot of people around you to succeed. You gotta have a lot of things in place for the organization to be successful.”
The California Cool had a phenomenal winning streak with the Pats, and 2007 was a notable year for them due to going undefeated. The 71-year-old coach’s tactics have recently come under scrutiny from the NFL community, but Tom Terrific believes they are the same as they always have been.
“I don’t think he’s probably coaching much different now than when we’re undefeated in 2007. I’m sure he’s preparing the team the same way. The results are different, but again, that’s why the sport is so challenging.”
The ex-NFL signal-caller did the quarterbacking job at his best, hence earning the prestigious GOAT title. Though the Patriots HC has been blamed for the team’s back-to-back losses, the 46-year-old star thinks the team’s QB should strongly do his part, as only a coach can’t bring success for a team.
“There’s a lot of reasons why teams win or lose. The head coach is a very small part on game day. The quarterback plays a really big part on game day… if you get good quarterback play and that says nothing about the, you know, I’m just talking in general about football, you’ve got an advantage.”
The three-time NFL MVP talked about the Pats defense as well. He mentioned how a good defense can turn the wheel of a match and said the team should take notes on both sides of the ball to let things work in favor of them.
Tom Brady and Bill Belichick’s bond
Tom Brady was undoubtedly the favorite QB of Belichik, as the HC didn’t seem to be finding a bond with any other signal-callers when he left. The coach has consistently encouraged TB12 to do his job during his time with the Pats. The QB did it flawlessly and earned multiple championship trophies in New England.
As the dual-threat departed from the Patriots, a torn-out relationship between them had been speculated, although the signal-caller later revealed Bill was one of the first people to text him after he won the Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The ex-NFL star has often come forward to defend his former coach, and Belichick too can’t get over the memories he shared with the QB during the past two decades.
“Well, there are six of them that come to mind. Can’t say enough about Tom — what he’s meant to this organization, what he’s meant to me personally,” he said via CBS News during an appearance on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show when asked about his favorite memory with Brady.
Though the Patriots are having a tough time this season, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady’s golden dynasty will always stay alive in the football fan’s heart.
