Benjamin Mendy was accused of raping a 24-year-old woman at his home in October 2020. Unfortunately for the ex-Man City defender, he had been charged with the same offense two years earlier; however, Mendy frequently pleaded not guilty to these unfounded charges.
It was recently revealed that during Mendy’s criminal trial ordeal, Manchester City withheld his wages. Hence, Mendy, who was entitled to at least £5 million per year at Manchester City, is now suing Manchester City over unpaid wages after being found not guilty of alleged rape charges.

Benjamin Mendy, who joined the Premier League from Monaco in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee of £52 million, won three Premier League titles with Manchester City. During his time at City, he earned approximately £5 million per year.
Benjamin Mendy was due to be contracted at Manchester City until June 2023. Though allegations of unpaid salaries are now surfacing as the ex-City player is currently pursuing unpaid wages for the period from September 2021 to June 2023, covering the duration of his contract until its expiration.

Benjamin Meny was eventually absolved of all criminal charges earlier this year after a serious criminal trial ordeal that went on for a few years.
Despite continuously denying the charges and being found not guilty by the jury at Chester Crown Court earlier this year, Mendy had his £100,000-a-week wages from Manchester City stopped in September 2021.
The aggrieved ex-Manchester City footballer has now instituted a legal claim against the European champions, seeking millions of pounds in unpaid wages. Mendy alleges that he received no payment between September 2021, when he faced charges of rape and sexual assault, and June 2023, when his contract with the club expired.
Benjamin Mendy is being represented by Nick De Marco KC, a prominent barrister who previously represented Newcastle United in their dispute with the Premier League over the proposed Saudi takeover.
“Nick De Marco KC is acting for the former Manchester City player Benjamin Mendy in a multi-million-pound claim for unauthorised deductions from wages,” he told Sky Sports News.
“Manchester City FC failed to pay Mr Mendy any wages at all from September 2021, following Mr Mendy being charged with various offences, all of which he was subsequently acquitted of, until the end of his contract in June 2023. The claim will come before an Employment Tribunal.”
Benjamin Mendy is working to revive his football career in the French top division with Lorient after nearly two years since he last appeared for them. In the same vein of recovery, he also lays claim to unpaid wages.
