Rikishi spoils WWE Payback plans for Jey Uso in now deleted post

Jey Uso shocked the world when he took out his brothers all by himself on SmackDown this week and then declared that he is quitting WWE. Jimmy’s betrayal at SummerSlam seems to have left a scar on the brothers’ relationship, and now it looks like their father, Rikishi is going to get involved in the storyline. The 57-year-old wrestling legend seemingly confirmed his return to WWE in a now-deleted post on social media.

On SmackDown this week, Jey Uso came out to confront Jimmy, his own twin brother who betrayed him at SummerSlam and cost him the match against Roman Reigns. Jimmy tried to reason that he interrupted the match, only to try and prevent Jey from becoming like Roman in the long run. However, that explanation did not seem to sit well with Jey, who laid out his brothers and then proceeded to walk out of WWE.

Rikishi spoils WWE Payback appearance

It was already speculated that Rikishi might get involved with The Bloodline storyline somewhere down the line after some of his posts on social media. Now, it looks like the 57-year-old legend has confirmed these rumors with an online post, that was quickly deleted within an hour of being posted.

Normally, a post from Rikishi would not create many headlines, but this post in particular, featured the phrase “Come meet Rikishi before he referees at WWE Payback” under a graphic. Some eagle-eyed fans were quick to point this out, and this post became viral soon.

However, Rikishi deleted the graphic and removed the line about Payback, leaving many fans to wonder whether the Hall of Famer had accidentally spoiled his return. Rikishi being involved in the storyline would actually make sense, considering both his sons are at war against each other, with Jimmy betraying Jey and Jey knocking Jimmy out at SmackDown this week.

Rikishi later tried to rectify this situation and said that it was a “Wrong promoter mistake”.

WWE planning Jey vs Jimmy feud

It has been reported by various sources that WWE has been planning a Jimmy vs Jey Uso match for Payback for some time now. A match between the two brothers would make sense after Jimmy betrayed Jey at SummerSlam, costing him the match in the process. About a month ago, Jey Uso super-kicked Roman Reigns and sided with his brother Jimmy. Since then, things had been building up to the Roman vs Jey match at SummerSlam.

Jey Uso

After getting betrayed and defeated, Jey Uso showed up on SmackDown and laid out Roman, Solo, and Jimmy with a plethora of superkicks. He then proceeded to “quit” SmackDown and WWE as he walked out of the arena. However, fans probably haven’t seen the last of Jey in WWE yet. With Rikishi seemingly spoiling his appearance at Payback as a guest referee, it’s pretty much guaranteed that Jey will return to face one of his brothers.
