The former retired NFL player Sean Dawkins, who made his name playing with the Golden Bears football team in 1990, unfortunately kicked the bucket at a rather early age.
Following a prolific three-year college career, recording 120 passes for 2,028 yards and 31 touchdowns, Sean cemented his name in national-level football as well. Though he is not connected with football now, his early departure collected a pile of consolation for him due to his accolades during his NFL career.
Sean Dawkins passes away at 52
The former NFL star departed away earlier this week at the young age of 52, as first reported by TMZ Sports. On Wednesday, Cal Athletics announced the former athlete’s passing and gave cardiac arrest as the reason for death.
The recently deceased ex-football player was a Sunnyvale, Bay Area native and he continued to live in the South Bay prior to his passing. His family included his wife Sachi, their three children, twin sons Luke and Kam, and daughter Ella.

A brief history of Dawkins’ NFL career
The University of California graduate kicked off his NFL journey with the Colts after being picked by them in the first round of the 1993 NFL Draft. He played for the Indianapolis franchise during his first five seasons in the league, helping them to a 1995 participation in the AFC Championship Game.
Dawkins 3,511 receiving yards with the Colts rank 13th all-time for the team before he went on to appear in one season with the New Orleans Saints. He spent the next two years playing with the Seattle Seahawks. The former receiver had 445 receptions for 6,291 yards and 25 touchdowns before calling it quits with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2001.
SD was inducted into the Cal Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005. Throughout his football career, he was in the spotlight owing to his many honors, and this time around, the story that made the headlines was unexpected.
