The Green Bay Packers kicked off the season with a significant 36-19 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, however, the celebrations in their camp will probably take a hit as they had to cart off their veteran player Tyler Davis.
Davis played all 17 games for the Packers last season with one start granting him a strong position in the lineup. Now just before the regular season, his injury left the Packers in a shaky situation regarding their tight end spot as admitted by their head coach Matt LaFleur.
Injury update on Tyler Davis
Tyler already seems to have gained the backing of the entire team management and the players in his two seasons with Green Bay. Consequently, he made an important contribution to the Packers’ victory over the Bengals by receiving a five-yard touchdown pass from Sean Clifford and accumulating two grabs for nine yards.
Unfortunately, the 26-year-old was hurt after his second interception as he stood up with a limp. Before being carried to the locker room, he was examined by the team trainers. Later, it was determined that he tore his anterior cruciate ligament.
LaFleur acknowledged the TE’s ailment in a post-game interview and hinted that it might prevent him from playing a significant amount of games.

“TD, my heart hurts for him. He’s been a key contributor to our success the last couple of years,” said LaFleur. “Whether it’s on teams or carving out a role on our offense, he’s the consummate professional. Great teammate, great human. We’re going to miss him.”
Although no medical report has been released as of yet, according to the coaches’ comments, the team’s tight end room will suffer as a result of Tyler’s injury. The team later declared Luke Musgrave the tight end starter, with Tucker Kraft and Austin Allen now competing for the No. 2 tight end job.
