The Kansas City Chiefs wrapped up their final training camp practice and are set to start their first preseason games ahead of the regular season. While preseason might not be as interesting as the regular season, many youngsters use this opportunity to turn heads in the NFL and the Jacksonville Jaguars Nathan Rourke has been one of the athletes to garner heavy praise from the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes.
Nathan was twice named in the All-MAC second team throughout his three years as a Bobcat star and also got the accolade of the inaugural Jon Cornish Trophy as both a junior and a senior. He made his CFL debut in 2021 before signing a futures contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Mahomes in awe of Jags QB Rourke
During the fourth quarter of the Jaguars vs Dallas Cowboys Saturday matchup, Rourke threw one of the most phenomenal touchdowns in the history of the league. The CFL alum shrugged off several Dallas defenders while tossing a laser to the end zone as he was getting dragged down for a 21-yard touchdown to Jacksonville’s veteran Qadree Ollison. The running back successfully caught it and headed to the end zone for an incredible score.
This phenomenal athleticism didn’t go unnoticed by the Chiefs’ two-time MVP Mahomes as he retweeted the clip of the Jags QB saying,” That was nasty.”

The 25-year-old star recorded 9-of-17 passes for 153 yards along with one touchdown throw as well as added six rushes for 20 yards along with one TD to lead his team to a 28–23 victory over the Cowboys. This is indeed a wonderful showcase of performance for any player on his first live action in the NFL.
Chiefs to take the field in their first preseason game
The Chiefs are set to play three preseason games before opening the 2023 NFL season against the Detroit Lions 26 days later. Mahomes’ squad will start their first preseason matchup on Sunday in Caesar’s Superdome against the New Orleans Saints.
On Friday Morning, Kansas City’s head coach Andy Reid told reporters that their first-team players will play in the first quarter while the second-team players will appear in the second quarter in Sunday’s game against the Saints, “Everybody will play. They’ve all earned the right to get out there.”
Pat was told to convey his words to the Chiefs’ rookie players preparing for their first-ever preseason game in the league. The 27-year-old delivered a short yet meaningful message for his young teammates saying, “Let’s go out there and play fast. Let your natural talent and ability show.”
