Cristiano Ronaldo sued over Binance partnership claims

Cristiano Ronaldo had signed a partnership with one of the world’s biggest crypto exchanges, Binance, last year. In November 2022, the pair joined forces to open Ronaldo’s first ever NFT collection. He also often sponsors them on his social media pages. Just this Tuesday, he posted on his social media, “Cooking something up with Binance.”

However, Binances was recently given a lawsuit by a United States federal government watchdog for claims of financial mismanagement. According to the Coin Telegraph, Ronaldo is also the subject of a class-action lawsuit. It was done by three individuals who claim that the Al Nassr striker’s promotion of the crypto exchange has harmed them financially.

Their main claim is that, due to Ronaldo, users were more likely to join Binance, which is being investigated itself for selling unregistered crypto securities. The case reports that, “Ronaldo’s promotions solicited or assisted Binance in soliciting investments in unregistered securities by encouraging his millions of followers, fans and supporters to invest with the Binance platform.” They also claim that Ronaldo was fully aware of all the risks and dealings of Binance before signing a partnership with them.
