The match took place at NJPW Battle in the Valley on February 18, 2023, and Mone defeated Kairi to become the new IWGP Women’s Champion.
In May 2023, Mone sustained a broken ankle during the main event of NJPW STRONG Resurgence against Willow Nightingale. She was carried out of the ring and immediately taken to a hospital for evaluation. It was later confirmed that she had fractured her ankle and would require surgery. Recently, Mone posted a video on her official YouTube channel teasing her return to the ring.

In May 2022, Banks and tag team partner Naomi walked out of a Raw taping due to creative differences. They were suspended indefinitely by WWE and stripped of their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Banks was officially released from her WWE contract in December 2022.
While speaking on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Daniel Cormier called for Banks to make her WWE return at the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event next year. After this fans started to speculate that Sasha Banks will enter the Women’s Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant.
Mone has said that she is open to returning to WWE in the future, but the decision of whether or not to return to WWE will be up to her.
