Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum got ejected for only the second time in his career on Friday in a match against the Philadelphia 76ers. The match, held in Boston at the Celtics’ home, saw a great start for the team. Tatum began to shine with incredible plays in the first two quarters.
However, things started to go south for them in the third quarter, Tatum got double-teamed and lost the ball and in the process, he accidentally hit Robert Covington in the face. The match official reviewed the incident for an intentional hostile play, but Tatum started arguing with the referee. He ended up receiving his second technical and was ejected from the game.
Tatum issues nonchalant response to ejection
After the game ended, Jayson Tatum talked about his ejection in a very casual way. The reporters asked him about his ejection and the action that led to him receiving a second technical foul.
Tatum calmly responded to them saying, “Again I wasn’t that f*****g bad. Don’t put that narrative out there, I said what I said, there were no magic words. I didn’t cuss… I walked back calmly and sat in my chair, got some ice… I had to laugh it off.”
In the third quarter, Jayson started to get wild on the court, scoring 21 points, collecting seven rebounds, and providing four crucial assists in just 21 minutes. It could have been a thirty-point game for Tatum, but he got ejected and had to settle for just twenty-one.
