Red Bull with Max Verstappen is breaking records left and right. They have the most wins in a row, the most win in a row in a season, and the best start to a season by a manufacturer. These are astonishing numbers and may never be broken. At the Canadian Grand Prix this year, Red Bull became just the 5th team in F1 history to achieve 100 race wins. The only other teams to achieve this are legendary teams like Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, and Williams.
Recently, former Red Bull driver Mar Webber publicly praised Max Verstappen for his outstanding performance this season, along with hailing the mighty Red Bull vehicle, the RB19.
Max Verstappen gearing up to tie Sebastian Vettel on home track
Vettel won nine consecutive races in his dominant era with Red Bull back in 2013, which propelled him to his fourth consecutive career World Drivers’ Championship. Verstappen is well on his way to his third straight World Drivers’ Championship and is now just one win away from tying Vettel’s record, which he is looking to get after the summer break in the home race in the Netherlands.
According to former F1 driver Mark Webber, who was Vettel’s teammate when he won nine races back-to-back, there is nothing stopping the Dutchman and his untouchable RB 19 from doing well at the Dutch Grand Prix and tying his record with the legendary Sebastian Vettel.
Former RB driver forecasts Verstappen dominance continuation
Verstappen currently holds a 125-point lead in the drivers’ standings, with his teammate being the closest in second place with 189 points in his bag and with Red Bull 256 points ahead of their closest competitor in the constructors’ championship. Webber expects similar success when the championship leaders return from their summer break.
Reflecting upon his Formula 1 days, Webber, who raced for Red Bull between 2007 and 2013, including a tenure alongside Vettel, shared his thoughts regarding Max Verstappen’s dominance over his former squad. He said, according to formula1.com, “I think it’s really hard for people to understand this level of domination, how much work and effort goes into it.
“That’s the big thing, you’ve got to give credit, people have to give credit where it’s due.
“To get that level of advantage with the depth of competition in F1… There’s so many, so many opportunities to make mistakes, whether it’s pit stops, reliability, presentation of the car, driver errors, but it’s just been a run for the ages, and obviously [McLaren in] 1988 was the last time it happened.”
When asked what could put an end to Verstappen from dominating the sport and winning his ninth consecutive title, he replied that reliability issues according to him are the only factor that could potentially curb Max’s dominance in the future.
