Bills reportedly decided on Sean McDermott future with the franchise

Over a season, certain teams make it clear that they are a cut above the competition. On the other hand, there are also some teams that simply don’t have what it takes to turn their performances around. Unfortunately for the Buffalo Bills, they seem to fall into the latter half of that argument.

An abysmal run of form means that the team from Buffalo is now virtually out of playoff contention and has nothing to play for regarding the rest of the season. There have been cries for the ouster of head coach Sean McDermott, and it seems like the Bills front office might just have paid heed.

Bills made up their mind on Sean McDermott future

The dismal run of games means that the Buffalo Bills now have a 6-6 record. Their most recent loss against the high-flying Philadelphia Eagles did not do them any favors. In fact, the game only highlighted the level a well-oiled team can achieve if they’re playing with the right mindset.

After the game, outraged netizens demanded the ouster of coach Sean McDermott, their claims stating that the team hasn’t fired on all cylinders under his tutelage and they need new coaching blood for the next season. However, sources have specified that there is “zero chance” of the Bills sacking their head coach, according to co-owner Terry Pegula.

Whether McDermott is shown the door or not, it has to be admitted that the Bills are in dire straits and need to salvage something out of a bleak season.

McDermott under fire due to misfiring Bills

According to the popular saying, players receive recognition for outstanding and commendable performances, while coaches bear the responsibility for poor performances. That is exactly what is happening with Sean McDermott at the moment, as the 49-year-old is being subjected to a barrage of backlash.

Even on the “First Things First” show, NFL analyst Chris Broussard blasted the coach for not instilling enough belief in the outfit and not creating a winning mentality at the Buffalo Bills.

He said, “I’ve been saying this about Sean McDermott ever since they gave him the contract extension. I’m not saying they should’ve fired him this season, they should’ve let him coach, and see what he does. He should definitely be on the hot seat.”

“If they miss the playoffs, he does need to go,” Broussard continued, “This is a team that appears to be weak, and I believe that you take on the personality of your coach. He is a good coach, but Sean McDermott is not the coach to get the Bills over the hump.”
