Some say the clash of colossal egos was the real culprit behind the fallout between Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappe. They just could not fit together as the dream team they once imagined to be.
Mbappe had refused to sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain, and coincidentally, Neymar Jr. also agreed a move to Al Hilal a few days ago. Could these events be connected, or are they entirely independent of each other?

At first, it was all sunshine and rainbows between Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappe, who were already part of the club before the legendary Lionel Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain. Messi’s arrival was a bombshell to some at PSG but not to his longtime buddies Di Maria and Neymar Jr, who shared a bond with him even before he donned the PSG jersey. The rekindled connection between Messi and Neymar caused a gradual drift between Neymar and Mbappe, sparking rumours of jealousy.
The Brazilian and the French superstars gradually drifted apart, sparkling several rumours of physical confrontations. The tension escalated when Mbappe insisted Neymar hand over the penalty duties during a match against Montpellier. That’s when the team’s dynamics crumbled, and their unity got lost in a whirlwind of ego-driven conflicts
The 31-year-old Brazilian superstar had once hinted at the disharmony between himself and Mbappe. Bringing Messi into the picture, he pointed out that they did not fit together as a team. Neymar said, “Messi, Mbappe, and I are three guys who are the best in the world, but we didn’t fit in. It wasn’t good for us.”
On the verge of making his sensational move to Al Hilal, Neymar Jr. further confirmed that his co-existence with Mbappe on a team is an illusion. He liked an Instagram post that clearly reads;
“Last summer, Kylian Mbappe made it clear to PSG that there was no more room for him and Neymar in the same team. Coincidentally, on the day Neymar was practically announced at Al-Hilal, Mbappé returned to training super happy.”

Mbappe commits to PSG after months of Real Madrid speculations
It has been over a month since Kylian Mbappe clarified to PSG that he did not wish to sign a new contract with the club. Mbappe’s decision left PSG in a dilemma for weeks.
They did all they could to get Mbappe to continue with them, including signing a contract that would guarantee his desired departure only if he chose to stay beyond next summer.
PSG knew Mbappe would have left as a free agent in the coming transfer window if he did not sign a new contract. Hence, they pressured the player till they could not do it anymore.
It turned out that all Kylian Mbappe needed as motivation to ink a new contract was Neymar’s departure. Whether or not this was a mere coincidence, Mbappe has returned to PSG’s training, overjoyed as soon as Neymar Jr.’s departure to Al Hilal was confirmed.
