There have been various reports over Jadon Sancho’s departure from Manchester United following his sour relationship with Erik Ten Hag. It was previously reported that the United manager would receive significant funds in January with Jadon Sancho leaving the club but it appears that only a swap deal is feasible.
The relationship between the manager and Jadon Sancho has now gone beyond repairs, with Borussia Dortmund open to his return in exchange for one of their star strikers, Donyell Malen.
Donyell Malen emerges as front-runner in United’s bid to replace Sancho
Borussia Dortmund is reportedly considering a move to sign Jadon Sancho in the upcoming January transfer window. The 23-year-old Manchester United winger, who has fallen out of favor at Old Trafford, has been the subject of exit speculation. Dortmund, his former club, is now positioned as a leading contender for his signature as the transfer window approaches, but it appears Manchester United will favour a swap deal over an outright sale.
There are now reports that Borussia Dortmund is also considering a potential player exchange deal that would see Donyell Malen move to Old Trafford while Jadon Sancho exits to the other side. The Red Devils are seriously looking to reinforce their attack this January, and it appears Malen is just the perfect fit for that. Donyell Malen is set to be valued at €30 million.
The only hiccup to this deal, as it appears, is that Sancho will have to take a pay cut as Dortmund will not pay as much as the €14 million per season he earns at Manchester United.
Jadon Sancho, who made an €85 million move to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund, had an impressive performance in the 2020–21 Bundesliga season, contributing to 19 goals in 26 games. However, since his transfer to Manchester United, the winger has struggled to replicate the same level of form he showcased during his time with Dortmund.
Gary Neville takes aim at Jadon Sancho for showing ultimate disrespect
Nemanja Matic recently exposed how Jadon Sancho and Paul Pogba’s careers were impacted by their indiscipline at Manchester United. He spoke particularly about their lateness to training and how other teammates got really irritated about their tardiness.
Gary Neville, the Manchester United legend, has taken a different approach to appraising the situation, stating that Matic’s interview was a breach of dressing room privilege. He emphasized that such information is to be kept from the public eye as it presents the manager as indulging and excessively tolerating.
However, he went further to criticize Jadon Sancho and Paul Pogba’s lateness:
“I remember being late once when I was coming into Carrington, once in 20 years.
“I got stuck in horrendous traffic; I was never late. I was ringing up, I was frantic, I was absolutely devastated.
“Just the standards that I set, just if anyone else was late I’d criticize people, because that is the most disrespectful thing you can do, making your teammates wait.
“Working hard goes without saying, but if everyone is waiting for you, you can’t be that person in life.”
