Christian Horner and Toto Wolff were in spotlight after their famous snapshot post the 2023 season. Horner and Wolff were found hugging each other after the race in Abu Dhabi, which sparked a row of comments about their friendship.
Toto has had deep rivalry with Christian Horner since 2021 and there was some relief after the pair were found all friendly in the picture. But it seems like the wounds are too deep for either of them to accept any good bond yet and there will be clashes in the future between the two most prominent principals.
Wolff denies ties with Horner
There was never a chance for the two principals to become best friends, but the recent moment may have created an opportunity for them to resolve their issues. The Mercedes chief even found himself getting pranked by Christian’s wife Gery, but the Mercedes boss doesn’t feel any amity for Christian Horner.
“That was on the way out of the paddock. There was a nice group around Mark Mateschitz, his mother and a few people I know well. I joined them and had a nice chat with Geri and that’s how the photo came about,” he explained. A close friendship between them is a dream much farther from reality.
“Friends? The last handshake was maybe in 2021, before the last race,” Wolff explicitly stressed on. “But you have to acknowledge your competitor’s achievements. I respect what the Red Bull team has achieved.”
With Toto’s words, the last hopes for a friendship between the two have died down, and now we only have to wait for 2024 to reveal what kind of battles lie ahead for Red Bull and Mercedes.
Toto Wolff blasts Christian Horner for ‘off the mark’ comments
Toto Wolff is still sour about the circumstances of 2021, and he didn’t spare Christian Horner for his jibes regarding Abu Dhabi 2021. The Mercedes boss slammed Horner for spreading lies about Lewis Hamilton.
Horner earlier spread a story that Hamilton’s team had approached for a probable seat, a claim Lewis Hamilton denied completely. Things took an interesting turn when it was revealed that Lewis’s father was always involved in these propositions.
Toto Wolff was furious about Christian Horner’s allegations and straight up rebuked him, “You’ve won the season, be happy about it, humble, enjoy it. Don’t come out with comments about Abu Dhabi 2021, which are completely off the mark. Character question. I just wonder what’s going on up there.”
Christian Horner and Wolff are involved in a game of cat and mouse which may never end as long as either of them stays in the sport. What are your thoughts about this duo’s recurring clashes, and do you think it is high time since they should resolve their differences?
