In the era of crossover boxing, influencers such as the Paul brothers and KSI reign supreme. Emerging in the crossover boxing realm is Darren Jason Watkins Jr, popularly known as IShowSpeed or Speed.
Speed is set to face KSI in a sparring match on December 15, 2023. Despite never having boxed in his career, Speed will be taking on KSI, an accomplished crossover boxer, in this unique sparring match.
Watch: IShowSpeed’s hilarious training footage before KSI fight
IShowSpeed’s recent training video went viral on social media. The influencer, set to face fellow influencer KSI in a sparring match, was hilarously seen falling into a swimming pool. In the video, Speed was doing pads near a swimming pool, donning a number 3 Miami Heat jersey of Dwayne Wade.
Speed was practicing jabs, hooks, and stance switching before his step-back move caused him to fall to the pool. Speed is just 18 years old and called out KSI for a bout. There is little to no time for the youngster to train for a relatively accomplished boxer in KSI.
KSI last fought Tommy Fury in the main event of the MF & DAZN: X Series 10 – The Prime Card. Fury won a controversial decision over KSI, who appealed for the decision to be turned into a No Contest. However, KSI lost the appeal but his team is going to take further actions again.
Boxing community reacts to IShowSpeed’s training footage
The boxing community did not take lightly the video of IshowSpeed falling into the pool. Speed has a history of doing publicity stunts and the boxing community wasted no time to troll the influencer who will be facing KSI in the charity boxing match.
“Fake and planned, as everything he does” commented a fan who accused Speed of doing it as a publicity stunt. The fan pointed to the past actions of Speed which were also fake and planned.
“Bro looked at the floor before stepping back into the pool 💀 he knew what he was doing,” commented another fan providing proof that Speed looked into the pool before falling into it. In the video, it can be seen that Speed is looking down before falling in.
“This guy is cringe,” commented yet another fan accusing of Speed of being cringe. It was also the overwhelming sentiment of the majority of the boxing community. Nevertheless, Speed’s video brings eyes to the charity boxing event.
