Harry Maguire has been the subject of incessant boos and slurs from Manchester United fans- they want him gone. However, it is trite that Manchester United cannot welcome new players unless there are outgoings. The fans were excited when the club agreed on a fee with Westham for Harry Maguire to exit the club. But now Harry Maguire has chosen to stay, even if it meant not playing or rarely doing so.
Due to Harry Maguire’s reluctance to leave the club, Manchester United now find it challenging to welcome their top-choice center-backs in Benjamin Pavard and/or Jean-Clair Dimitri Roger Todibo.
Harry Maguire rejects West Ham transfer
Harry Maguire has not fared very well at Manchester United. The Manchester United defender has been an easy target for critics and pundits for a while now because he has failed to meet their expectations. Devils fans believe that he’s had a dismal career at United. Hence they were happy when he was linked to West Ham United.
The 30-year-old English International found a lot of favor with the previous United manager. Maguire was the team captain under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, and he would indeed start most games because of Ole’s trust in him.
Erik Ten Hag became Manchester United’s manager and retained the 30-year England International as captain, but he rarely started games for United last season. Maguire lost his spot to Lisandro Martinez, who came from Ajax last summer. On his arrival, the 25-year-old Argentine was criticised for his height, and many were doubtful of a place for him over Maguire in the starting line-up, but he conveniently took Maguire’s spot for the first time.
The Manchester United manager later unceremoniously stripped Harry Maguire of his captaincy, appointing Bruno Fernandes as the next captain. Since then, his future at Manchester United has been uncertain.

The club’s intention later became clear about Harry Maguire’s future at United as they agreed on a deal in principle for his transfer to West Ham United for £30 million. Upon the agreement with Manchester United, West Ham approached Harry Maguire to discuss personal terms, but Maguire made it clear that he didn’t want the move and would stay at United to reclaim his spot.
The Maguire deal has stalled due to uncertainty over whether the defender is prepared to join the club. According to The Guardian, Harry Maguire’s £30m move to West Ham has collapsed after the club grew tired of waiting for the defender to agree to his exit.
Update on Benjamin Pavard’s potential move to Manchester United
Amid transfer interest from Manchester United, Benjamin Pavard has reportedly informed Bayern Munich of his intent to leave the club.
The 27-year-old emerged as a target for Man United after they agreed a deal in principle for Maguire’s departure to West Ham. The Red Devils were expected to submit an official bid for Pavard as soon as Harry Maguire completed his proposed £30 million switch to West Ham.

A deal for Pavard would be regarded as a coup for Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag, who has been busy in the transfer market, but now that Maguire’s move to West Ham is stalled, Manchester United may lose Pavard’s signature after all.
