Lewis Hamilton’s custom $10,000,000 Pagani Zonda 760 LH faces second crash, leaving iconic car severely damaged

The seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is the most successful driver in the history of the sport, with 103 wins and 195 podiums under his belt. His time in Formula 1 has put him on Forbes list of the richest athletes too. He has never been shy about spending and has a very luxurious lifestyle; he even owned a private jet at some point in time. Lewis being a car fanatic, his garage has a variety of exotic cars like the AMG Project One and La Ferrari.

In the Brits collection, there used to be a custom purple Pagani Zonda, which has recently resurfaced on the internet. It was damaged due to a crash in Wales, making it the car’s second accident after Lewis crashed it back in 2015.

Lewis Hamilton’s custom Pagani Zonda 760 LH suffers severely damaged after tunnel crash

Lewis Hamilton originally purchased his Pagani Zonda 760 LH in 2014 and kept it for seven years, reportedly covering less than 1,000 kilometres. 621 miles, to be exact. It is one of the five “760” cars. It is the only one to carry the “LH” suffix after the F1 driver’s initials. At the end of 2021, the V12 supercar with a manual gearbox was purchased by a buyer from the UK. Hamilton sold his Pagani Zonda for €10 million, which brought in a tidy profit as he purchased it for a reported €1.4 million in 2015.

Yesterday, the Pagani Zonda 760LH was involved in a crash at the Penmaenbach Tunnel in Conwy, Wales. While the exact details are currently unknown, it appears the driver lost control and struck the tunnel wall. Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported; however, the car will require extensive repairs.

According to Thesupercarblog , the Zonda 760LH sustained significant damage, with the front and rear suspensions torn apart. The carbon fibre bodywork requires extensive repairs, including the front clamshell and portions of the rear fender. Additionally, the headlights and windscreen must be replaced.

Lewis Hamilton once wrecked the same car back in 2015

The Pagani Zonda owned by Hamilton was a one-off car that boasts a purple exterior and was personally ordered from Horacio Pagani by Hamilton seven years ago. However, later on decided to cash in on the vehicle for ethical reasons, with the Mercedes star keen to drive electric cars in the future. Little did anyone know that car was going to be in an accident again.

This is not the first time the rare exotic has been involved in an accident. Back in 2015, Lewis reportedly crashed the car in Monaco. He seemed to lose control and had it go off into the back of a couple of parked cars. The accident wasn’t as damaging as the one that happened in Wales. The car was soon fixed, and Lewis kept it for seven more years.

When the seven-time world champion was asked about the crash in Monaco in the media, he said, “It was a result of heavy partying and not much rest for 10 days. I am a bit rundown. When I got back to the UK, I was trying to organise my mom’s 60th birthday. The party turned out great, but by the end of it, I was exhausted. I had been busy for two solid weeks, and I basically collapsed.”
