Real Madrid is the world’s most prominent club in every aspect. Boasting star-studded players, unprecedented glory, fame, wealth, and a rich history, it is the dream destination for future talents aspiring to make their mark on the global stage.
Earlier this summer, the arrival of the English prodigy Jude Bellingham proved to be exceptionally beneficial for the Spanish giants. Now, they are reportedly eyeing a potential target in League One club Reading FC’s youth product, Caylan Vicers, to bring to Madrid.
Who is Caylan Vickers?
Caylan David Vickers, born in December 2004, is an 18-year-old striker currently playing for League One club Reading FC in the third tier of the English professional system. He joined the club’s academy nearly a decade ago before earning his first professional contract in July of this year, 2023.
After an impressive stint with the Under-21s team, he immediately became part of the first-team pre-season training. His prolific form eventually led to his debut appearance for the senior team, which came as a substitute against Peterborough United in August.
Caylan Vickers is a versatile player who can operate in multiple attacking positions, whether as a winger, center-forward, or creative attacking midfielder. Since his debut, he has firmly established himself at Reading FC, featuring in a total of 19 matches.
In addition, the teenager has scored four goals and provided as many assists in all competitions this season. Despite Reading FC going through a challenging season, Caylan Vickers has been a bright spot for the club. However, interest from elite clubs could prompt the player to pursue a move away.
Real Madrid set to land the 18-year-old from Reading
According to reports, Real Madrid is keenly interested in the English teenage forward Caylan Vickers and has opened talks with the League One club to secure the 18-year-old’s signature for a January move, involving an approximate £1 million transfer fee.
Vickers was also on the radar of Premier League side Arsenal. However, it appears that the forward has preferred Spain as his dream move to the 14-time Champions League winners.
Furthermore, Real Madrid Castilla, renowned for nurturing young talents, is set to welcome the English talent. Some notable names who have made their mark after coming through Castilla include the Brazilian duo of Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo, along with Federico Valverde and Fran García, all of whom are currently crucial parts of the Real Madrid squad.
