NFL veteran receives heavy backlash after his hot take on George Pickens being “more talented” than Justin Jefferson

Since being selected in the 2020 draft, Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson has set his sights on a storied career. His accumulated career stats have already placed him in the upper echelons among the receivers.

One of the former NFL veterans, expressing his controversial opinion, is not yet ready to recognize Jefferson’s greatness. Instead, he brazenly stoked the ire of football fans with his controversial opinion on the Vikings receiver by contrasting his performance with that of a novice receiver.

NFL veteran picks between George Pickens and Justin Jefferson

In each season, Justin maintained a relatively high grade in regard to receptions and yards per game. However, the 24-year-olds’ greatness could not touch the former Pittsburgh Steelers legendary player Ryan Clark.

On his appearance on ESPN’s NFL Live, Clark picked George Pickens over the Vikings star in regards to the talent of the individual.

“George Pickens is much more talented than Justin Jefferson,” Clark said.

“Justin Jefferson understands everything about playing the positions, stems, leverage, he can catch the football in all kind of awkward positions.”

Pickens is entering his second NFL season following a rookie season of 52 catches for 801 yards and four touchdowns. In contrast, Justins’ 128 catches for 1,809 yards and eight touchdowns showed the level of inconsistency of Ryans’ comparison.

The Vikings star’s 324 receptions for 4,825 yards and 25 touchdowns in his three NFL seasons should probably set him way apart from George Pickens.

Fans outraged on NFL veteran following his infamous take

Justin has already built up a stellar resume including three Pro Bowls, an offensive player of the year, and an All-Pro nomination, yet his resume falls short to impress Clark. However, it seems to have persuaded the NFL fans to point out how Jefferson’s level will be a tough reach for the Steelers’ receiver.

“Pickens is a hell of a WR that somehow I’ve never seen him be open. Jefferson makes himself open on basically every play. Pickens is Allen Robinson and that should be taken as a compliment, but Jefferson is on another level,” one comment read.

Ryan who dominated the football field for the Steelers by clinching one Super Bowl for them probably only expressed his homesickness as per one fan, “Sounds like more of a homer take. He probably thinks Pickett is better than Mahomes as well”.

George is one of the league’s most raw talents, but many would find it hard to believe that he could replace the Vikings’ best player. “Agree or disagree…really? Pickens is super talented and will likely take a huge step forward this season but cmon. JJ is on another level,” one netizen wrote in a comment.
