The Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks former star Alex Collins lost his life in a fatal motorcycle crash in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. Collins’ 2004 Suzuki GSX-R600K motorcycle crashed into a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban S.U.V. and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Collins headed to the NFL after getting drafted by the Seahawks as a fifth-round draft pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He later agreed to terms with the Ravens and led the team with 973 yards rushing and six touchdowns in the 2017 season before going back to Seattle for the final two years of his five-year NFL career. The running back last played for the Memphis Showboats of USFL this season after signing with them in January.
Alex Collins met 7th grader who got bullied for Irish dancing
Alex has always been famous for providing a helping hand to the members of his local community. The 28-year-old star once showed his heartwarming support for a 7th-grader boy Carl Tubbs who was being bullied.
“Never forget when Alex Collins took the time to meet Carl Tubbs, a 7th grader who was bullied for being a boy learning Irish dancing. Alex Collins practiced Irish dancing to help with his footwork in the NFL. Alex motivated Carl to continue practicing dancing. A great guy” was said in remembrance.
Carl was learning Irish dance for four years and he was reportedly being bullied for taking the dance lessons despite being a boy. The ex-Ravens star also used to study Irish dance to help with his footwork on the field. The 7th grader later got a chance to meet the footballer who motivated him to continue taking the lessons.
He also shared a tweet for the 10-year-old kid saying, “Never stop doing the things you love because someone else [doesn’t] agree. Chase your dreams Carl and don’t let them stop you from being great!”
Robert Griffin, Irish dance school pays tribute to the beloved RB
Robert Griffin III played with Collins once and hearing the tragic incident of his former teammate, posted a heartfelt tribute where he reminisced about the deceased star’s ability on the dancefloor.
“Alex Collins was such a special man. Great teammate and a man everyone agreed with. This man invited me and my wife to Baltimore once and I’ll never forget it.”
Griffin said how the RB used to bring smiles to everyone’s face while citing himself as a blessed one to play alongside the ex-NFL star.
“You can tell everyone loved this guy and his energy was contagious. To close out the night, he hit this dance with all the fans watching him on the dance floor. WHAT A NIGHT and WHAT A GUY AC WAS. More laughs than people know and I’m blessed to have been your teammate, my brother. Rest in peace.”
The former Seattle veteran was introduced to Irish dance by the daughter of his school coach. He later joined hands with the Drake School of Irish Dance. The school paid tribute to the legend in a lengthy message,
“Alex made us so proud as he became an ambassador for Irish dance around the world, yet always made time to come back home to support our Irish dance community and his Drake family….We will cherish our memories of Alex and he will be missed beyond measure.”
Collins is no longer with us, but his beautiful memories in the NFL and his support towards the bullied kid will probably be a talked about tale for years to come.
