Aside from Giannis Antetokounmpo’s size, he also possesses great speed and strength, along with excellent ball-handling ability. Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks’ recent matchup against the Indiana Pacers was an opportunity for the Greek Freak to attain an unprecedented milestone in the franchise’s history.
Despite Giannis Antetokounmpo’s memorable night against the Indiana Pacers, the Bucks’ star engaged in a heated word exchange with the Pacers, which he later took to social media to send a strong message.
Giannis opens up after his record point haul
The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Indiana Pacers recently at home in Wisconsin, by a score of 140-126. Giannis Antetokounmpo had a great game and recorded a stunning result, which inspired the team’s victory.
After the memorable night, Giannis took to social media (X), saying “We are just getting warmed up,” to send a strong message across to other teams in the Eastern Conference.
Impressively, Giannis, recorded an unbelievable 64 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 1 block while shooting 20 out of 28 from the field in 37 minutes. Giannis’ 64 points broke the team’s record for points scored in a game, which he leaped passed Michael Redd’s 57 points, while shooting 18 out of 32 from the field.
The Bucks’ victory over the Pacers, improved their season’s record to 17-7 in the first 24 games, which ranks them as second-seeded in the Eastern Conference. The team is in the middle of a two-game winning streak, and an impressive 12-2 record in 14 games, played at home in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
Nonetheless, Giannis has always proven to be a valuable asset to the team. His season’s average of 32 points, 10.8 rebounds, 5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks per outing, while shooting 62.3% from the field in 23 matchups, is just phenomenal.
While the Bucks go against the Pistons next at home, the Pacers, now on a 13-9 record in 22 games and ranked 5th in the Eastern Conference, will face the Wizards next on Friday. It’s quite unfortunate that the wonderful night of Giannis Antetokounmpo ended with him engaging in a heated word exchange with Pacers’ star Tyrese Haliburton.
Giannis’ heated reaction to Pacers keeping the game ball
The Greek Freak, after delivering a stunning 64 points against the Pacers recently, looked upset with the Pacers, for taking away the game ball, before he could take it, which he believed he deserved, leading to a little drama after the match.
The Incident resulted in Giannis yelling at Tyrese Haliburton, but was eventually calmed down by his teammates. More so, the Incident could be attributed to the Pacers’ assistant coach, as he took the game ball before Giannis. The game ball, was to commemorate the efforts of Giannis in the game.
Nevertheless, Chris Haynes has revealed the Pacers’ reason for taking the game ball, which was to award rookie Oscar Tshiebwe after he scored his first and only NBA point from a free throw in the same matchup.
“They wanted to give it to a rookie who scored his first career basket. Oscar Tshiebwe was the only rookie to register his first point. He made one free throw.” Haynes disclosed.
Conventionally, given it was a Milwaukee home game, Giannis Antetokounmpo deserved to take the ball home instead of a visiting Pacers, aiming to award a rookie who played in garbage time. Eventually, Giannis did retrieve the game ball, as a viral clip showed him sprinting toward the Pacers’ locker room to get the ball. Giannis, no doubt, has a lot of historic achievements with the Bucks and could be aiming for more in the coming weeks.
