Aston Martin was a new contender on the front row, with a surprising start to their 2023 campaign. Fernando Alonso was a new addition to the team, and he didn’t fail to deliver. Aston Martin made a huge leap from their previous seasons and claimed multiple podiums this season, courtesy of Alonso.
There were certain rumors about the team getting renamed or potentially rebranded next year, but sources confirmed that Aston Martin will stay in Formula 1 with a new team name. They recently came to the end of their partnership with one of their sponsors, inviting a new name next year.
Aston Martin announces partnership with Aramco
Astons parted ways with Cognizant and their partnership with one of the other sponsors, Aramco, neared its end too. While the British team chose to opt out of Cognizant, they went forth to sign a new deal with Aramco. Aramco and Cognizant were title sponsors of Aston Martin ever since it joined Formula 1 in 2022 and now Aramco has reared its head to declare a huge ambition in Formula 1 racing.
Aramco intends to power Formula 1 cars in 2026, and provide best in class fuel and lubrication, pairing up with Honda and helping their power unit. In wake of this, Aramco decided to join their further adventures and Nabeel A. Al-Jama’, Aramco Executive Vice President, expressed his excitement to become a part of the team.
“We are delighted to become the exclusive title partner of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. Since partnering with the team in 2022, we have witnessed the team take significant strides forward and have enjoyed celebrating some very special moments, including eight podiums this season.”
“The future for the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team is bright, and today’s news reaffirms our long-term commitment to Aston Martin where Aramco’s expertise and technology can contribute to advanced car performance, especially with our development of advanced fuels and lubricants.”
Aston Martin’s new name for 2024 F1 season
Aston Martin has had a history with different names in Formula 1 and they were going to bring another change next season. Although it would be a huge relief for fans that the team won’t have any major overhaul but a minor name change owing to its partnership deals.
They announced this on their social media handles, “We’re pleased to announce an extended partnership with Aramco to become the team’s title partner. From 1 January 2024, the team will be known as the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team.” The British team will be using a new name next season as they will try to build on their current progress and perform better.
