WWE star Cody Rhodes shares his candid thoughts on losing to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39: “Bitter sweet”

The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes headlined this year’s WrestleMania, where he challenged the Undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. However, things didn’t go in Rhodes’s favor, as he fell victim to the numbers game of The Bloodline and ultimately lost the match.

Cody emerged victorious in this year’s Royal Rumble and went on to challenge Roman Reigns for his Universal Championship. Reigns has ruled over WWE as The Tribal Chief for 3 years now and many fans thought that Rhodes was the best possible candidate to dethrone Reigns and become the next face of the company.

However, Rhodes was defeated at the April Extravaganza. Since then, he has been trying to get back in the title picture, beginning from zero all over again. In a recent interview, The American Nightmare reflected on his feelings after his loss to Roman Reigns on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Cody Rhodes shares his feelings about WrestleMania 39 loss vs Roman Reigns

Speaking to Robbie Fox on the recent episode of My Mom’s Basement podcast, Rhodes talks about how he felt after his devastating loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. As Reigns was celebrating his victory outside the ring with Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman, Rhodes was just sitting in the ring with a defeated look. He talks about how after the match, he verbally told himself to get back up. He went on to describe it as a tense, bitter, and awkward moment.

“The only thing I learned was well, I gotta get back. I gotta get back and I gotta win. I can’t call it, I gotta win. That was bittersweet, I mean more bitter than anything. The only thing I was trying to do was look at as many fans as I could and let them know it’ll be okay. It was a very tense, awkward, cold feeling at WrestleMania 39 so it opens up opportunities for WrestleMania 40 perhaps to be a different feeling”, said Cody.

Despite his heartbreaking loss to The Tribal Chief, Cody Rhodes was not disheartened. He wanted to earn his way back into the title picture, even if it meant starting from zero all over again. Rhodes is fresh off his victory over Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. The two have been in a heated feud ever since the night after WrestleMania 39.

Cody Rhodes travels to WrestleMania 40’s venue

With the WrestleMania ticket sales starting today, Rhodes traveled to the venue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to make appearances and hype up the event.

Although WrestleMania 40 is still almost a year away, many fans have begun to plan trips and scout tickets before they go on sale to the public. WWE has recently released a video of Cody Rhodes’ antics throughout the day, as he visited the venue for the event and several media outlets with a shining smile on his face.

Considering the recent feuds in The Bloodline, it’s unclear whether Cody will get to avenge his loss and become the champion dethroning Roman. However, WWE has been building him up with 2 victories over The Beast, so big things could be underway!
